Abandonment. Abuse. Betrayal. Rejection. By the age of 18, Gary Sheldon has endured all of these things. All too soon, the old man dies and all Gary has left is memories - and his granddad's treasured rosary beads.
When Gary meets Michaela, her spitfire assertiveness shines through her somber facade and they forge an unlikely friendship...which deepens into love. But will the terrible secret Michaela acquires during their courtship derail their relationship?
Over time, a series of harsh revelations makes Gary re-evaluate everything he was certain of. Can he salvage the tattered shreds of his marriage? Will Michaela's awful secret drive a deeper wedge between her and Gary? Or will their faith enable them to pick up the pieces and heal together?

I actually started reading this book a couple of months ago but due to unforeseen circumstances was not able to finish it. I was recently in my living room and picked it up from the coffee table and started reading from where I left off and finished it a few days later. I usually don't read books like this, but this is a great story, well written and well told. I also liked that it took place in Connecticut as that is where I live. I was able to identify with many of the places where Gary lived and visited. If you like reading fiction and you like a good story, I recommend reading Glimpse of Emerald!
Strap yourself in and put on your helmet! This literary adventure will not be a carousel ride! Many twists and turns, some pieces not for the faint of heart or stomach. Writer isn't afraid to go toe-to-toe with big ticket topics.
While I enjoyed the storyline and the writing style, there were scenes and descriptions that I could have done without. I am undecided as to whether or not I'll get the next book or books.
