Life Lessons from Philippians: Guide to Joy

Rate this book
In an era marked by frustration, could you use more contentment? In a world filled with anxieties, worries, and fears, could you stand to have a bit more joy? The believers in Philippi were struggling. They were trying to grow in faith and live for Christ. Trying to deal with conflict and threats of persecution. The apostle Paul was stuck in a Roman prison when he wrote to this young church. His letter could have focused on his own troubles. Instead, he wrote about living a life full of joy, peace, and contentment. Paul's confidence reminds us of God's wisdom and control in the difficult moments of life. His excitement challenges us in this guide to joy. As you read, study, journal, and discuss the book of Philippians, watch for these key themes that Max will unpack throughout the The Life Lessons with Max Lucado series brings the Bible to life in twelve lessons filled with intriguing questions, inspirational stories, and poignant reflections to take you deeper into God's Word. Each lesson The Life Lessons series is ideal for use in both a small-group setting or for individual study.

This wasn't as verse-heavy, doctrine driven as a wanted it. It was very light, fluffy.

Life Lessons from Philippians – Max Lucado

Completed this study guide in Philippians with our Essentials of the Faith Sunday School class. This was a fine book that brought us all good discussion and encouragement to experience the joy of rising above our circumstances. The essence of this study was to have the “mind of Christ,” and to be of one accord in him with humility. Through this study I believe the class found the joy both individually and with each other that Paul was teaching the Philippian believers.

The illustrations were excellent. A great guide if you just want to study alone. In a group setting I found many of the questions were just to simplistic to get good discussion started. Had to add additional questions or change the way they were asked. Overall a great study.

Good daily devotional

As usual Max open the scriptures to where anyone can understand them. I would recommend this book or any of his commentaries on the writings of Paul to use as a daily devotional.

My men's Bible study just got done using Lucado's study guide to lead us through Philippians. We handled 2 sections a week completing the study in 6 weeks. The questions were ok. Nothing great. Can get the group talking and focusing on different aspects of Philippians.
