A classic true story of the afterlife, and of a love that flourishes beyond the grave. Written through the psychic medium A. Farnese in 1896, Wanderer is the true autobiography of Franchezzo, an Italian socialite who squanders his life on "wine, women and song." After an untimely death, he finds his spirit wandering in one of the dark lower worlds, alone and hopeless except for continued messages of love his young wife sends him through her prayers. Moved by the constancy of her devotion, he sets out to redeem himself by trying to help other lost souls, a mission which takes him into the lowest hells of the astral realm. Through his journey, there unfolds a remarkably lucid account of the different levels of the spirit realm, and the great brotherhoods of light who work there. Esoteric students have long regarded Wanderer as one of the clearest, most accurate descriptions of the spirit realms and the life that awaits us on the other side.
This is definitely a book you don't want to rush through, like you're devouring fast food to get on to something else. I stumbled upon this by accident, and I'm really glad I did. Having done much study on the afterlife---having entertained a ghost in one of my homes, having astral-traveled to the "other side," and lastly, having received my own messages from beyond, this book is not only schooling me, but also validating many of the messages and my own experiences. It can comfort many a person who has harbored a fear of death. I do feel that the author may have "fictionalize" some parts for entertainment, still, there are enough facts here in which to keep comfort.
Having finished this book, I indeed have been going back periodically to reread certain sections. However, in the end, people shouldn't romanticize the other side in thinking that this life can be forsaken for it. Life is work, hard work, and the flesh is still a much preferred state. The more you take responsibility for your life here and follow your true path, the better it can be on the other side, but it will still be work, nonetheless.
Hi everyone, This book is just amaaaazing. So much truth. What is the purpose of life ?
The purpose of life is to serve. To serve is to make others healthier and happier.
This book makes very clear WHY and HOW service from soul to soul really looks like. I was reading it with tears and deep realization about the power of forgiveness and chanting. Soul life IS eternal. This book is channeled and describes the life after the body has died. The souls journey just began.
And the lands of the spirits are vast and deeply touching.
I recommend this book to any serious spiritual seeker <3 <3 <3 . . .
I highly recommend it for everyone, I feel like reading this book has opened my eyes to how much impact we have in the lives of others. This is my favorite book, one of the best I have ever read. A story of a man who dies and what he experiences in death. I could barley put it down, his personal story and the stories of others that he meets are so touching and inspirational (none of these words are strong enough). The sad parts were so sad that I wept bitterly and am near tears just remembering the strength of emotions. The same for the happy parts, they were so happy that I am almost in tears over remembering how joyous I felt. I think the way it was written, in first person, allows the reader to really feel like they get to know the character, and see what he sees and feel what he feels, almost as if he is real.
Highly recommended book for those in seeking for spiritual knowledge. This book is a fine food for my spiritual appetite. The spirit author, Franchezzo, told the closest reality to many accounts of the afterlife description. One of the greatest literatures in spiritual/metaphysical writing after Manly P. Hall's books (well, in my personal opinion). I believe in most of the stories told in the book; such as where we'd have gone after we die, and about how the system works among guardian spirits of higher power, and etc.
Great book. Have read it twice now and I find it so beautifully written and the recollections really resonates with me and my perceptions of spirit world. The descriptions of his wanderings and encounters is fascinating and moving story telling.
I found this book the be very enjoyable to read. I liked the message of hope that one day we will again be reunited with our love ones that have already passed over. I enjoyed reading this book and thought it was very informative.
"A Wanderer in the Spirit Lands" is the experience of a spirit author Franchezzo as communicated to the author A. Farnese. This book is a love story which is very moving and hard to put down. Franchezzo communicates that he had lived a very selfish life but had met the love of his life just prior to his death. Franchezzo further communicates that subsequent to his death he woke up in a complete darkness which he describes as one of the realms of "hell". Franchezzo's story chronicles his transition from the lower levels of "hell" into the brighter lights of eternity. The author was enabled to make this transition through the help of the love of his life, his sorrow for his misdeeds and through his helping of other souls. Much of the author's story is consistent with other spiritual books. I would highly recommend this book
Another eye-opening, thought provoking work from the Spirit World
This fascinating page-turner documents the journey of a repentant spirit from the depths of Hell to the higher spheres of the Spirit World. Written in the spirit author's own words, in the eloquent and uplifting prose of a high-order spirit, it will captivate and enthrall the reader and certainly give them pause to think long and hard about their purpose on this planet.
This was not an easy read; however, it was very thought-provoking. It's definitely one I can see myself picking up from time to time, depending on what's going on in my life. If nothing else, this book provides hope to the hopeless. And, as someone who recently lost my father, this book gives me hope that he is always near and I shall see him again one day.
I will read this again. I wish I had read this to the end 25 years, ago when I had it in my hands.. something was pushing me to read this and I finally got to the end. Beautifully written.makes me want to live a life of forgiveness compassion empathy and love and nothing less.
I found this book on the sacred-texts site when I was 13. Don't remember it too well, but I remember being utterly fascinated with it. I've been meaning to read it again for a while now, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
Personally, I feel the book is a plausible version of those farfetched-religious-stories of the afterlife. I would recommend this book to atheists rather than religion fanatics. I most mention I really enjoy the adventure.
Sometimes I had to read a section over a time or two but it was worth it. It is written in what I think is old world English so it takes some effort to get what the author is saying. Overall a good read even though not always an easy read.
This is an intriguing work of literary wealth worth digesting and putting too practical use. With a strong background in faith, this book will expand the mind and have you questioning life with a new perspective.
I'm actually reading this again. Everytime I get more out of it. His decriptions of the beyond, and what he encounters is amazing and very believable. This book is on my shelf forever.
Now listed as one of my favorite after life books. Nearly teary eyed in the end when he entered the golden gate sphere and reunited with his loved ones.
