Librarian's Note: Alternate-cover edition for ASIN B00H1XSFQU
My name is Tanith Quinn and I'm a five hundred year old vampire, trying to live every day to the fullest. I might have cheated Death, but he's always one step behind me, ready to take me into his cold embrace.
I've been lucky so far, but no one's lucky forever.
Female vampiric business owners are dropping like flies in a snowstorm and the Arcadian Council are in town to find out who's killing them. As the owner of one of the hottest clubs in the city, you'd think I'd be worried about being a target.
Wrong.
Instead, I'm framed as the killer and the only thing I can do to escape execution by the Council is to find the murderer myself.
Partnered with an old enemy who'd like nothing more than to see me dead, I must clear my name before any more vampires die.
After finding Jamison and ending up framed for murder, Tanith takes a journey that will leave your speechless. Paired with Dorian to help find the real killer, it just seems to get worse. The killer calls a meeting at her club and once again, death and destruction are present. She does what she has to even if it will end up getting her killed. Dealing with demons is never easy or safe. You’ll not want to miss out on this read.

After readig Waiting for Darkness (the first one of the series), I was expecting this to be better. Sadly, I gotta say, it is not. Don't get me wrong, the story is amazing. I actually find it interesting, but something is off. I think Jameson just needs some more experience in writting. She sometimes makes an amazing scene with good descriptions, but then....nothing at all. I can't seem to connect with the characters. I cannot empathize with any of them. I can't say anything about the characters other than two or three characteristics or behaviors. The scenes are hard to picture most of the time. This series, with more work, would be amazing, seriously. The story, like I said, is good and it has a good development, but it is just too rushed. I am going to wait for the third one to be better because I really want to know what happens in the rest of the series. Jameson, I'm counting you will make a better job next time because your story has potential...it really does.
This is the second in the Blood Martyr series by Fionn Jameson. Tannith Quin, the female vampire who is the lead character in the series is probably not someone I would want to have as a friend but perhaps not all bad as far as vampires go. I was expecting there to be more about the two males in her life but this seemed more of a “between” type of book that introduced a new character named Dorian rather than dealing with Kieran Black (the werewolf love interest) or Jamison Bell (the witch love interest). In this book we meet the council of vampires and others, a quest to take out an older vampire serial murderer occurs, a fallen angel is summoned to make a deal with and groundwork laid for future books in the series.
I love the cover, loved the book and loved the series you have to have read the first one to follow the story. But I really enjoy Fionn's sarcastic heroine who is trying so hard to be better but just moves from one disaster to another. I felt sorry for Jamison he just seems to draw the short end of the stick and never catches a break as for the boyfriend well what can I say, maybe Dorian has potential
