Memories Way Back When

Rate this book
Upon returning home from a weekend trip with her wife and two teenage children, Cassandra "Cass" Jordan now has doubts about her relationship with her loving wife, Lucille. On her way to work, Cass notices three large packages on her neighbors stoop. After a few days, the boxes remain unclaimed. Being the kind neighbor that she is, she took them for safekeeping and returned them weeks later when her neighbor returned home. Realizing the condition Nay is in, she offers to help with cleaning, cooking, and taking care of a gunshot wound that Nay had suffered a few weeks earlier. It’s the least she can do, right?
Struggling with the death of a close friend is never easy for anyone, especially when feelings get involved where they shouldn't. Nay is learning the hard way that should've, could've, and would've, are just words, and dwelling on the past is not going to help get past the heartache. Upon returning home, Nay is greeted by a neighbor with three large boxes from Taylor, Nay's recently deceased best friend.

With the help of Cass, Nay opens the boxes, and what’s inside, forces them both to think about the past, the present, and the future.

Memories from way back when can only have two effects on the present and the future. A Positive or Negative, the choice is up to Cass & Nay to decide on their present and future.

Great read

I enjoyed this book. It was my first book by Ms. Shepard and I look forward to reading more of her work. It flowed well and was well written. The only thing I think she should change is to add headers of the lead characters at the beginning of each chapter as it can be confusing not knowing who's speaking. I'll be waiting for part 2.

Okay read. Waiting for part 2.

I thought the book was an okay read. There are a couple of reasons why I did not give it 4 or 5 stars... There were some editing issues throughout the book.. Not enough to deter from reading but it was more than a few. Another reason I chose not to give it 4 or 5 stars is because (in my personal opinion) if a book/story is being told between more than ones perspective, I believe there should be names or something to distinguish the difference. It did not go from one main character to the other main character throughout every chapter so there were parts that I felt a name should have been used. The book in the beginning started kind of slow and kind of confusing. It did pick up and it got interesting. I low key wished it was 2 different books because there are many things going on between several of the characters. It is a lot to try to remember as well as try to put together as you continue to read. I also feel like the synopsis of book did not match all of the way because only one box was opened out of the three... Unless the way the author has it set up is that one box is going to be opened per book. I am waiting for part 2 because there are many things that has been left unanswered and I am waiting to see how it is going to tie things together.

Memories Way Back When

Whew! I swear all those memories left me thinking wtf. I was all in once Naymond started reading the letters from Taylor. I didn't want it to end and was eager to find out what was next. Jamal needed his lil ass beat but I'm glad he finally told someone what was going on with him. Cassandra truly went to bat for her kids whether right or wrong. Learning of everything she experienced with her trifling parents really left me pissed. I couldn't believe they would do all they did and then her dad would try to buy love. That really blew me considering his occupation. Major seemed like a good dude that was just dealt a very bad hand. He had to take on a lot of responsibility but he did it without complaints. His kids are a handful but hopefully things will change. I would've never guessed Major would do what he did with his dad or Ali. I can't wait for part 2 because I really want to know what other secrets Taylor was hiding as well as what's in store for Cassandra and Major. #KNL

I SOOOO ENJOYED THIS BOOK !

This was one captivating book ! It has ALL the elements that make a spectacular read. There is colorful characters that keeps you turning the page. A plot that is quite unusual ( I believe the Author wrote outside the box. ) I without a doubt would recommend this book because, not only did I read this book in one sitting. It also had me thinking about it, long after I read the last page. Hands down a 5 🌟 read.

Oh Damn! I honestly didn't expect this to be such a good read but I couldn't put it down… Threw me a little bit at the beginning but the characters are genuine and the love in this story is undeniable… It's not your typical urban book but touches on the modern-day family of people in love with someone that most people in society would not agree with… I really enjoyed the drama as the writer elegantly bounced back and forth from the past to the present… Good job can't wait to read more!

Interesting read but had a few editing issues but a still a good read. These characters had some major issues and with Major being out of jail want to see what becomes of this love triangle. Nay was my favorite but he needs to cut his sister loose and get full custody of his nieces and nephews and move on with his life.

Omg this book was straight drama from beginning to end. Marjorie and her brother needs their asses beat. Nay needs to take those children and leave. This love triangle between Lucy, Major and Cass is crazy. Can wait to read part 2. #KNL

This book takes the reader on a roller coaster of a mind trip as the reader tries to figure how the main character got in his present predicament. The author shines light on the main character's past and present relationships, all while shining light on the relationships of those around him and how their choices came to effect his life today.
