What She #2

What She Forgot

Rate this book
I had been called ruthless. Uncaring. A bitch. And more.

I'd known from a very young age that I wasn't like other women. I’d never wanted a husband and two-point-five children. I’d never wanted a white picket fence around a home that had to be baby-proofed. I’d never wanted a happily-ever-after. I was happy enough taking care of my sister, Lynn. Then the day came when Lynn didn’t need to be taken care of anymore. She didn’t need me. None of her “friends” needed me. I’d built this solitary life for myself and I liked it. Until I didn’t.

Then I met Will Clark. He needed help in his office, and I needed to be useful, so I let myself in. I walked right into his life and I turned it upside down. What started out as a fun part-time job turned into real feelings and real…dare I call it love?

For a short time, Will made me forget that I wasn’t suited to a normal life. He made me forget that marriage and family were not in my future. Then one day I was forced to remember. I had to make a choice. In the end, I had to choose to save him or save his ex-wife. Either way, there would be no one left to save me.

Tammy Falkner lives on a farm in a lovely, sprawling little town in rural NC with her beekeeper husband and a house full of boys, a few dogs, and a cat or two (or five – who has time to count?). As half of the Lydia Dare team, she has co-written ten books, including the Westfield Wolves series and the Gentlemen Vampyre series. A huge fan of Regency England, she often wonders what other kinds of magical, mythical and strange creatures might live and interact within the ton. Exploring the theory that the fae can walk between Regency England and their own land, Tammy spends as much time as possible with the lords and ladies of society, horse-drawn carriages, and elegant balls. Now add to that some faeries, a little murder, a bit of mayhem, and a troublesome garden gnome, and you have her exciting new series. She hopes you enjoys her world as much as she does.

With “What She Forgot”, Tammy Falkner adds another wonderfully hooking story to her romantic suspense series “What She” this time following the genius and ruthless Shelly Punter.

Shelly Punter had spent her entire life taking care of her sister Lynn. Once that was unnecessary she found herself at a loss. Having a trust fund that could feed a small nation, Shelly didn’t have to worry about work. Even though she occupied her time by teaching self-defense and gave lessons at the gun range, she still wanted to feel useful.

When she found out that Will Clark, the ex-cop turned detective who helped her sister, needed help. Even though he wouldn’t admit it and said he didn’t want her in his office, she walked right into his office, put it to rights and turned his life on its axis.
“I’m the thorn in his side. The tear in his beer. The pain in his ass. Also known as the office assistant.”

Then his past threated Shelly’s sister and now they must work together to keep everyone they love safe. The only problem is that in order to do so, they must capture Will’s ex-wife.

I LOVED this book! That first chapter is fun as al get out. Tammy Falkner is a staple in my book shelves and I knew even without reading the story’s summary that I would enjoy it. So I jumped in and was not disappointed. Even though this is a romantic suspense, it was sprinkled with the impish camaraderie that developed between Will and Shelly along with Tammy’s vivacious voice that jumps right out of the pages.

Shelly is a k!ck@$$ heroine. She thought herself unloveable, but in truth she’s incredibly tough, smart and straight forward. She’s unpredictable, without filter and totally embraces it. Despite his reluctance to accept her sometimes intrusive help,
“How did you get in here?”
She glanced toward the doorknob and shrugged. “Oh, I picked the lock.”
I looked toward the same lock. “Why?”
“Well, you weren’t here.”

Will is able to truly see beyond her misunderstood façade and into her incredibly caring and protective heart. That’s what made ME fall head over heels for him, that and the fact that he’s just totally swoon worthy.

In the beginning though, the two have a somewhat antagonistic relationship. Mostly because of her straightforwardness and atypical behavior. But as the two start to reluctantly work together they find they’re not just attracted to one another but that they’ve forged a relationship neither of them thought they’d have.
“Who was she? … She was smart… She was loyal… She was funny… Shelly could kick ass… She was fucking beautiful… she was – most important of all – loveable.”

Besides the romance and suspense that had me smiling and turning pages without pause, I enjoyed having a cameo appearance by the Reed Brothers and also enjoyed Will’s grandmother as a bit supporting character. Tammy always creates these incredibly likeable characters who you wish to be friends with.

What She Forgot made me laugh, smile, swoon and bite my nails at the edge of my seat. It has an easy flow with the perfect blend of all the elements that make a great romace.

What She Forgot is book #2 of the What She series by Tammy Falkner. It is a standalone romantic suspense told from both points of view with a happy ending.

Shelly was a doozy of a difficult character in the first book of this series, but I loved getting to know her story and seeing all that made her different--and special. Only a man of Clark's experience could truly understand her motives, but he also had a big enough heart to see past her differences to what made her so unique and finally . . .truly lovable. A great story that I had to keep reading just so I could see how it all played out.

I received this free novel from the author. This is my honest review.

I was super excited to see that Lynn's sister got her own story. I feel that she was misunderstood and very mysterious during Lynn's story. So to be able to see how she thinks and how she reacts to things around her was great.

I also love how loyal she is to those she loves, and that she will do WHATEVER is needed to protect them. I wish we could have seen her go crazy scary like she had in the past, but she's evolved into a more well rounded person.

Will is fantastic. I love how close he is to his MeeMaw and how he understands Lynn's sister to a level that not even Lynn has gotten to.

These two characters have a lot of learning and growing to do, but together they can accomplish anything they set their minds to.

Oh! And the cameo of the Reed Brothers?!?! I absolutely love for those unexpected scenes and it puts the biggest smile on my face every time!

I'm so glad I read these books, and, as always, I am looking forward to more by Tammy Falkner!

la verdad no tengo palabras.
Me gusta muchísimo la autora, pero en serio, en serio, siento que le faltó mucha investigación sobre los trastornos que trata en esta serie.
