Shane Ledyard grew up in Bucks County, Pa with an interest in the outdoors, traditional sports and horses. Surrounded by the rich history of the area, he was influenced by the deep cultural values of Bucks County. At the same time, he always had a very simple cowboy-like way about him. His lifestyle turned into a career as a successful horse trainer, horse show judge and riding instructor in the hunter and jumper industry. His writing is charmed with a respect for nature, and enjoys an intimate use of colorful language and descriptions that are unique to someone of his background with horses and cultural influence. Coupled with a romantic edge, his writing invokes clear, passionate images of characters that tend to pursue intricate moral positions on relevant subjects in current society. His messages are positive and encouraging, leaving the reader with the sense that one has read quality literature while also becoming a better version of themselves as they turn the last page. Ledyard still resides in Bucks County with his wife and two children that he loves and cherishes.
I loved this book. Everything about it. It is well written, I am drawn into every scene as if I were there personally. Shane Ledyard's writing paints vivid detail into every sentence. I read this entire book in 3 sittings, I just couldn't put it down! I smiled, I cried and I just had to share it with my husband. Some of the things I had experienced with my own horse and some of the story related to my own personal life. I loved the scripture at the end and the times of prayer by the characters in the book.
Another wonderful heartfelt story by Shane Ledyard. He truly brings the human/horse relationship to a new understanding. The story is so relatable to what could actually be happening with families during these times of unrest within the world. Anyone who has had a relationship with a horse, as owner, rider or lessoning with them, will be able to relate to this tale of troubled family times. I will be definitely be sharing this with my friends in the equine world.
Not a bad book, author knows their horse stuff, which makes me happy, as a horse trainer I get picky. Love the horse perspective talking and thoughts, makes for a fun read. Starting number 3 to see how these horses and young ladies end up crossing each other's paths. Enjoyable horse series!

Short and sweet. Heartwarming story. But the characters are one-dimensional. I had a difficult time feeling anything for any of them. The horses have more depth than Emma and her family (which was kinda cool to read). Cute story, just not the best I've ever read.
What a great book. A girl with a perfect life that seems to fall apart and she loses her joy. A horse who never felt love or joy. The journey to joy and love. I smiled, cheered, hoped, and held back tears.
