Our Story

Rate this book
A New York Times Bestseller The entire nation stopped and held its breath as word spread of the plight of the nine Pennsylvania coal miners who were trapped underground for 77 hours. Now, for the first time, the miners tell their own story -- in a dramatic, riveting, first-person account of their actions and emotions and how they managed to make it through. They recount their fears, prayers, and confessions to one another, and how they maintained the hope that they'd get out alive while deciding how to drown with dignity. We also hear of the agony their wives, girlfriends, and families went through not knowing if they were living or dead. They also reveal -- when rescue appeared imminent -- how it was decided who would be the last man up, and their emotions upon touching solid ground and seeing loved ones they'd thought they would never see again.

I slightly remember this happening but some items kept in my brain. I saw this that was donated at our local thrift store. I just can’t even imagine what those 9 guys went through. The book was spell binding and I just wanted to keep reading to make sure they all got out. I sobbed like a baby when they were rescued. I highly recommend this book.
