When his lover goes missing, Adrian engages the help of his necromancer friend in order to get her back. But the way won't be easy, and it may prove too much even for an elder vampire like himself. It doesn't matter though. He will save Lenore no matter the price, even at the cost of his very soul. And neither the warlock, the demon lord, nor the army of the damned will stop him.
This story is inspired by Edgar Allen Poe's poem, 'The Raven'.
C. Gold is an avid World of Warcraft gamer and book reading junkie. She enjoys reading a variety of genres, including fantasy, science fiction, urban fantasy, paranormal, and a variety of romance combinations.
Her worlds are influenced by her background in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science and Math. After a long career in software testing, she began writing the stories that kept clamoring to be told.
Right now she's writing fantasy in the Darklight Universe and science fiction in a series based on technomages, like the ones that appeared in Babylon 5, who use technology to simulate magical effects.
Quite an excellent short story. I wasn't expecting this story to be so good, it's usually hard (in my opinion) to make a short story really good. This started right off, in turmoil. The Author did a great job drawing me into the story, then keeping my attention throughout. The characters were also interesting and likable. The Author said at the end of the book that she definitely will be continuing the story. I'm not sure if she has yet or not, but I sure as heck am going to go look.
Oh what a great novelette! Even though it was short it was so good. I’ve just bought the next book in this series. This novelette was inspired by Poe’s the Raven so what was not to like? Yes, I do recommend reading this book. Great story line.
I love this & I can't wait for more. I will be also leaving a review on Goodreads @ Amazon. And letting everyone know about it. So i gave it a 5 Stars.
I have read and re-read The Vampire’s Raven by C Gold several times now. The opening scene starts out with a dark mood that rarely lifts throughout the book. However, I could expect a darkened setting from a book involving vampires, magical folk, a raven, and a few demons. I also got a sense of the tone from its cover and title. Despite being simply put, many scenes in this book contain graphic imagery. This book has some action/adventure as well as a clearly established Romance/paranormal romance plot. This book also holds some strong aspects of horror which are used to great effect. Understanding all of this will help anyone considering whether The Vampire’s Raven is the book for them decide. Personally, I was drawn to those elements and I enjoyed it.
The first thing I noticed while exploring this innovative read is that C. Gold’s writing is rather poetic (pun not intended!), which makes it flow beautifully throughout the story. This fast-paced, Poe-inspired novelette is inherently believable, as are its slightly-unexpected characters; even the magic we encounter is scientific enough to be completely plausible. Just as importantly, the non-human protagonist is neither invincible nor near-omnipotent, which made this paranormal story more relatable than most. I drank up this strong tale quickly and enjoyed every aspect! (That last pun was definitely intended.)
Highly recommended for fans of Edgar Allen Poe, stories with connections of the heart, vampires or mages of any stripe, and clever writing in general.
great quick read it introduce you to the rest of the series. The characters are fun and quirky. The emotions felt real and very relatable. You could really feel the love and anxiety that Adrian was feeling for Lenore and the pain of thinking he might not get her back. The friendship between Marcus and Adrian was interesting. Must be hard for two people to be in love with the same woman. I liked the little tidbits the author included to show their love for Lenore, but the acceptance Marcus had that she would never be his. I look forward to seeing what the rest of the series has to offer.
Well done short story based off ideas from The Raven by Poe. This grabbed me from the start and ran headlong straight to the end. A raven, a vampire, a necromancer, and references to Poe, what more do you need? C. Gold added the story to work them all together so well.
