Ink Stains Anthology #6

Ink Stains, Volume 6

Rate this book
In life, we draw many lines — between good and evil, guilt and innocence, real and unreal, life and death.
And having drawn these lines, we cross them because humanity is curious, careless, devious, and, sometimes, downright wicked.
So what happens if you cross the line? Does it change you and what is waiting on the other side?

In Ink Stains, Volume 6, ten authors explore what it means to cross the line and the price we pay to do it.

This is a collection of short stories that range from fantasy through science fiction to horror and from the fantastical to the grit of day to day life. Join writers Monica Carter, George Kelly, Alison Garsha, Ken Goldman, Elana Gomel, Christopher Locke, Morrison, Thomas Olbert, Evan Purcell, and Nicole Tanquary as they step over the line to find what waits on the other side.

Praise for Ink Stains

"Wow! This anthology of Dark Fiction really packs a punch! Ten strong stories without a dud in the bunch. This is my first brush with Dark Alley Press and I sure hope it won’t be the last because they are bringing some serious talent to the table. "
Brian James Lewis, Hellnotes.com

Ink Stains, a quarterly dark fiction and horror anthology published by Dark Alley Press, is about shining a stark light on the shadows of life, exploring those dimly lit corridors, and unearthing those long-buried secrets. We don’t believe good will always triumph over evil or that someone will always be around to save the day. Sometimes all we have is ourselves. And the stories that keep us turning the page.

I am shaken and not in a good way. With October being the Halloween month, I decided to read something scary. The book cover led me to read and review the book sent by the publisher in my email.
The book is not horror but it is scary and chilling to the bone. It is an anthology of dark fiction tales. The theme for the collection is crossing the line. It explores the deepest, darkest emotions humans have and twist it to screw up your brain.
There is greed, there is lust for knowledge, there is manipulation by death, there is fear, there is everything. The stories creep you out for sure but that is what they intend to do. They have the capability to instill a fear in you of the most things like animals, statues, books, and humans. I am having a hard time believing the things at their face values and wondering if there is a dark facade underneath.
My favorite from the entire collection is 'Grotesque'. I may not find it in me to visit a library anytime soon.

Ink Stains: Volume 6 collects ten stories from different authors, all loosely related to the central theme of "crossing the line." Each author takes the theme in a different direction: One tells the story of two boys who are about to cross the line from childhood to adulthood, but can't help taking one last look back at their past. Another tells of a woman who straddles the line between life and death. And several more blur the lines between villain and victim, evil and innocence. The guest editor for this volume was J. S. Watts, a British poet and author of the novels A Darker Moon and Witchlight.
