Find Out How It All Begins…

Megan Aequitas is the only vengeance demon and trickster hybrid ever born. Unbeknownst to her family, she has always yearned to become a licensed member of the vengeance trade. There is something about punishing wrongdoers that just speaks to her at a primal level…

But being born into the vengeance race was one thing—well, being half born into it, anyway—and being professionally qualified as a vengeance demon is quite another.

Getting admitted into the elite vengeance training program is only the first step. Afterwards, Megan has to deal with professors and students who doubt her right to be there, trickster siblings who mortify her with their pranks…and, worst of all, her terrifying and powerful grandmother, who promises expulsion from the program if Megan steps as much as a single toe out of line. But Megan is determined to achieve her dreams, no matter what the cost—and it soon becomes clear that what everyone views to be her greatest weakness may actually present an interesting advantage.

Prepare yourself for a thrilling and hilarious ride as you journey with Megan in this prequel to the highly original and creative Vengeance Demons series!

Please note:
1. The Vengeance Demons series was originally called the Cosmic Balance series.
2. Goodreads uses a different book numbering system than the online retailers. E.g. Vengeance Unclaimed is called Book 2 on Amazon, but Book 1.5 on Goodreads. It's still the same book :)

Vengeance 101 is a short story in the Vengeance Demon world, offering a great little introduction to anyone interested in finding out more about the series. For those who are fans of the series, this is a great look back into the past – before Vengeance Be Mine – that shows us the hurdles our character faced in the early days of her vengeance life; for those who are new to the series, this book gives you enough to ensure you get a taste for the series whilst leaving you open for more.

I’ll be completely honest by saying this one wasn’t my favourite of the short stories in the Vengeance Demon world, but it really was a nice look at the earlier days in the story. We knew about the issues Megan faced, and it was nice to finally get a look at how it was for her before all of the drama started to truly unfold.

In all honesty, it’s left me wanting little short stories for many of the characters, as I would love little snapshots like this for many of my favourites. It’s so nice to get to see more of them, especially in a situation that is not quite as dire as that in the main story. Oh, there is enough in this short story to ensure your attention is grabbed, but it is rather tame when compared to the rest of the series. As I said, it makes for a great introduction.

Now, I go back to my impatient waiting for the next book – because, damn, I’m excited for this series and Vengeance 101 simply worked to remind me of why I’m so addicted.

This prequel is a good introduction to the Vengeance Demons series.
Vengeance 101 gives just a taste of the vengeance demons as Megan's journey into the academy begins.
We get a glimpse of how she got started at the university and began her dream of becoming a licensed Vengeance Demon.
This was a fun and entertaining read.

There was a hellhound in my bedroom. 5 APPLE PIES

who needed owls when they could send the beasts from Hell? Do you know what's special about you? Your ability to blend trickery into vengeance. That’s your secret weapon. WOW! Now that was one helluva introduction times two! My introduction to both this series and the author! Considering that this is a short story I wasn't expecting too much out of it, other than a brief introduction to the Vengeance Demons Series. HA! Oh how wrong I was! This is an exceptionally well-written, highly entertaining and very impressively creative story! I found myself intrigued right away, laughing, fretting & immensely enjoying every minute! Even though it is a quick read, it doesn't read like one, meaning that there is always something happening, characters to meet, rules to learn, backgrounds given, etc. all wrapped up in terrific storytelling, keeping it fun & addictive! To be that hooked on a short story is saying a LOT and I cannot wait to continue reading this series! “Vengeance would be mine.”

Megan Aquitas has it tough being a half breed vengeance demon/trickster. The two don’t normally get along, but her parents are hopelessly in love and they are the very odd couple. Now she’s chosen to follow her father and become a vengeance demon. But are her days at Vengeance U are numbered before she even gets accepted? How can she get them to understand she is serious about vengeance?
I loved this short prequel to the vengeance demon series! Megan’s start in school is shown in more detail and her character is questioned at every turn. But she’s serious about vengeance and she is determined to show them she’s not just capable, but an excellent choice. If you have started the series, then you should definitely read this little insight into Megan’s life!

An absolute must for anyone who loves original fantasy

This prequel is a good introduction to the Vengeance Demons series. It’s entertaining and hilarious! So original and creative! Megan is a half-breed: her father is a Vengeance Demon and her mother a Trickster. All she wants is to become a true Vengeance Demon, who is on the side of justice. And by using her trickster side, she can give that justice an ironic twist. She has to go up against her influential grandmother who hates her for being a half-breed. I’m a big fan of this series and this prequel is a nice little addition about how it all started. Such fun!

This novella is a prequel to the Vengeance Demon series. Megan has hidden her desire to be a vengeance demon from everyone, but the time has come for her to apply for admission to the university. However, not everyone wants her to be at the university, including her vengeance demon grandmother. Will Megan achieve her dream or will everyone around her help her fail? I love this series and am always glad to see a book or novella so I can visit the world. While this novella isn’t very long, Ms. Lo puts a lot into the few pages, including the big heart that Megan has. Including how well-written this is, we get a glimpse of how Megan began her journey and how her family reacted to finding out what she really wanted to do. Great novella and I highly recommend! Thanks to the author for the e-book which I reviewed voluntarily.

Loved this glimpse into Megan's home life & reasons for choosing her vengeance side over her trickster side , without the support of her brothers, who could not believe she'd turn their mum down as a mentor, she decides to follow her dad into the University of Demonic studies even if they never get her name right . She tries harder than anyone else to make sure her work & conduct is perfect but plenty believe she only got her place because of her grandmothers influence with the University & torment her over her hybrid birth . Nothing keeps Megan down for long & she finds a way to use her trickster side to gain an advantage in her studies ,a fantastic series that shouldn't be missed .

With "Vengeance 101," Ms. Lo has written a clever, engaging literary treat for her fans. Don't let the shortness of the story fool you...there are just as many surprises and tricky bits as you'd expect from Ms. Lo. One of the things I love about the Vengeance Series is how, no matter how challenging or dismal the situation may get, you can trust that through Ms. Lo's humorous writing you'll be taken on an engaging adventure, with ups and downs, unexpected plot twists, and an ending that leaves you with a warm-fuzzy feeling in an imperfect world.

Vengeance 101 gives just a taste of the vengeance demons as Megan's journey into the academy begins. Outcast because of being a hybrid, Megan's first semester in the Vengeance Demon Academy starts off rocky. With hints of humor and her own special brand of karma, Megan's first case leaves you feeling satisfied with cosmic justice and wishing for a vengeance demon of your own. Still one of my favorite characters, the short story left me wanting a full dose of Vengeance. A good read in an addicting and fun series! I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review. This is a novelette introducing you to Megan Aequitas. Megan's father tells her what her secret weapon is as she starts her first term at the University of Demonic Studies. I truly love the ironic twists she uses to get vengeance on those who do wrong and on those who want her expelled. A fun read that I would recommend to everyone who loves humour in their paranormal stories.

I was blessed with a free copy of this book, and I have chosen of my own volition to share my review with you.

Going back to the beginning, discovering how Megan gets started with Vengeance school. How does a half-breed (half Vengeance demon and half Trickster) get into a prominent Vengeance school. This short read provides a coherent beginning to this phenomenal series!

This is a PREQUEL... It should be read with the rest of the series. Although this does NOT have to be read first. As with the other books in this series I absolutely LOVED it! I had already fallen in love with the characters, but to find a little more about the beginning for our little heroine was really fun. I highly recommend this whole series to any and everyone. YA- old age!
