মার্কো পোলো তৎকালীন সময়ে পায়ে হেঁটে পৃথিবীর এক তৃতীয়াংশ জয় করে ফেলেছিলেন। যেহেতু প্রতিটি পথ পায়ে হেঁটে হেঁটে যেতে হয়েছে তাই অনেক বৈচিত্র্যের সম্মুখীন হয়েছিলেন। সেসব তিনি টুকে রেখেছিলেন, যা দিয়ে পরবর্তীতে একটি বই লিখে ইতিহাসে অমর হয়ে যান। সেই ঘটনাবহুল ভ্রমণ সম্পর্কে সামান্য আলোকপাত করে লেখা এই বই। খুব একতা সুলিখিত নয়, তবে চলে। ভেতরে কিছু ইলাস্ট্রেশন আছে, তবে সেসব ইলাস্ট্রেশনগুলো টেক্সটের সাথে মিল না থাকাতে এত আকর্ষণীয় হয়নি।
