A great portrait of Don Rosa. It is not a biography, but rather a written account of a 3 day visit on Rosa's property outside of Louisville. But during this visit, Rosa talks about his childhood, his career, his situation now and his interests. This, together with great photographs from the visit, makes it an enjoyable read for any Rosa fan.

The photos are the highlight of the book, and the reason why this is a coffee table-sized book. It's huge. They work well together with the text, where there's a red chili that marks if there's a photo relevant to the passage. But - as Rosa also comments himself - the photos are more artsy than informal. It's a book that grants you access to his home, and as Rosa is guiding us through all of his collections, you want to see the full picture, not just a (nice looking) close up. But having both would probably make the book a bit too cumbersome.

I also like the layers of the book. Most text is based on Don Rosa talking about something, but recounted by the authors of the book. But then there's an extra level of Rosa commenting upon the finished piece (mostly on the photos). This works really well.

If you have no interest in Don Rosa, then this book would be an odd choice. If you're a big fan of him, then there's probably little new in this book. But for most of us, this will probably be the closest we get to visiting the Rosas on their beautiful property.

A must-read for any Don Rosa fan.
Beautiful pictures, brilliantly written about the man Don and his life. And the ducks of Duckburg, naturally.
