The New America

Rate this book
In 2045 after WWIII, America experiences widespread death and destruction. Almost half the country flees to a safe zone located between the Mississippi River and the Appalachian Mountains. A new Capitol is established in Nashville, TN. This is "The New America."

At the time, the country was governed by four powerful men known as the “Presidential Caucus”. James Martin, who sat on the Caucus, was a closet totalitarian who anointed himself as America’s Dictator. To get his way James balanced multiple personalities, colluded with foreign governments, murdered friends and enemies, and threatened almost everyone who got in his way. However conquering America was just a stepping stone to his ultimate goal…to become the most powerful man in the world.

While the country was secretly losing control, A.J. Robertson leads a team of Navy SEALs to confront James Martin and his army to try save the country. Will it be too late to save the nation from tyranny? It all comes down to a single confrontation. The outcome can only be black and white. It's freedom or suppression. It's kill or be killed. There is no middle ground. A.J. and his team of Navy SEALs don't know if they will be successful, but they do know failure is not an option.

P. H. Figur grew up in Massapequa, a small New York town located on Long Island in the southeast corner of Nassau County. After graduating from C.W. Post College, he spent the next 30+ years working in the accounting/auditing field for three multi-national companies.

IN 2013, Peter started writing a daily journal recapping daily events, capturing his thoughts, and documenting his opinions. That morphed into writing short stories about his travels around the world and his passion for music and sports. He even wrote a hockey blog one year covering his beloved New York Islanders and their final season in the Nassau Coliseum. But the more Peter wrote the more it drove him towards an even more significant project, to start writing his autobiography entitled "Life Sentence", which is still a work in progress. "The New America" and "The Divinity Complex" represented Peter's first two novels.

After so many years, Peter finally found his passion. Some would say it's a shame to find your passion so late in life. But if you asked Peter, he would tell you that wasn't true. "You can't look at life that way. It's always better to find your passion late in life, then never finding your passion at all."

History revisited

Looking back through history and using it to go into the future causing a dictator to rise in the USA is an unusual way of building an interesting military story of freedom fighters, tyranny and world war to the surface. It's not your usual thriller but if you like drawn out detailed descriptions you will enjoy reading this very involved book. I did and found the subject matter fascinating. Not my usual type of reading so pleasantly surprised.

Shiftets......

The author did a lot of research on quotes to bring his story together (including Led Zepplin.) I understand the premise of the book, but part of the presentation was choppy. The book was entertaining but not relatable to non-military or people who are not wealthy. But I enjoyed the read.

Interesting & well-written story
An interesting take on WW3, how politicians operate, and society's response to the hardships a world war creates. Richly drawn characters & excellent formatting makes this ebook a pleasure to read. Highly recommend for those who like dystopian tales without the gore.

Liked the story but.....

The editing was awful. There was no profanity and the story was interesting. Did I mention that the editing was terrible.
