Very resourceful book and a simple guided tool of references for architecture students and practicing professional, which give a fundamental understanding of the math and physical concepts that govern and apply to all the parts from a simple structural element to complex structural systems. It shows you how to also interpret structures graphically and mathematically. The Correlation between the graphical representation of that structural element/structural system and the design drawn by architect/Design Student is where interestingly a part of started as an idea start fading from the conceptual aspect to transition to a more practical aspect. This book gives you the technical backbone to understand the function or design this aspect (structural system) of building technology that can impact positively in making something (construction-able).

How can I give any less than five stars to a book that has survived seventy years..and is still relevant! OK, there's newer materials, and I learned most of this stuff from studying "modern" engineering math classes, but for the time this was "state-of-the-art" and as such I can't help but respect the author and his time.

I found this book to be an excellent resource for information. Coming into a world that I didn't know to much about starting my third year of architectural technology this is a great reference book and explains a lot of things I didn't know about before.
