For a long time I have struggled with explaining to my Christian friends and family just what makes the Harry Potter books so wonderful and I’ve finally found the answer! In Harry Potter and the Christian Way of Power, Kyle brilliantly dissects the stories pulling out the symbols and themes at the heart of Harry’s journey. Love, friendship, and sacrifice (values of the Order Of The Phoenix) are explored and contrasted with hate, coercion, and immortality (values of the Death Eaters) to shed light on what it truly means to be human. It turns out magic is just a case study exemplifying how each of us might wield power in life when confronted with the power of death.

A nice and short analysis on Harry Potter and the themes that it has in common with Christianity! This is hard to give to someone who’s skeptical about Harry Potter because it relies quite heavily on later books, and some of the same themes, but still worth the read for any Christian Harry Potter fan!
