The ugly side of the Sri Lankan politics since the country was made an open economy by then President Mr. J.R. Jayawardena and the plot and the assassination of one of the greatest civil servants of the country Mr. Lalith Athulathmudali are two closely related factors.

The book goes on to prove the general hypothesis which the public believed in terms of who carried out Mr. Athulathmudali's assassination. The surreal efforts by the government of Mr. R. Premadasa (who was the President of the country at the time of the assassination, after which he himself was killed as a result of a suicide bombing of an LTTE cadre) to link the murder to the LTTE and how that attempt became an utter flop is explained very subtly.
