Landing a job on the set of Billionaire Bachelor was amazing. But being up close to this year’s bachelor, Blake Berringer, is enough to make me wet on the spot. He’s an unhinged aristocrat with the face of an angel and the reputation of the devil.
A little part of me wants to get him alone and see if he remembers me. We met once a long time ago.
But there’s 3 ironclad rules on
1) No wandering the bachelor’s property after dark. Broke this one once.
2) Don’t accept any gifts. Broke this one twice.
3) Don’t kiss the bachelor. I can’t even count how many times we broke this one.
I’m such a bad girl. But some rules are meant to be broken. The producer is really going to flip her sh$t when she sees my baby bump.
Will I be fired, or will I be famous?
This steamy contemporary romance will keep you company tonight, tomorrow, and the day after. No cheating and a satisfying happily ever after! This is a full-length novel, about 250 pages, with one additional full-length story and one sample.
Emily Bishop is a breakthrough romance writer from Seattle, Washington. She originally attended University of Washington as a history student but soon found a passion for words and stories. Upon graduating with a degree in creative writing, Emily fell in love and moved away from the hustle and bustle of the city to a quiet little town in Oregon.
She is now a full time writer who loves her job. She enjoys bad horror flicks, hair pulling, lemon pound cake, and spending time with her husband, Charlie, and her dog, Roscoe.
This was a delightful story about a Billionaire who is not use to hearing the word 'no' & a make-up artist who doesn't trust men to get close to her. Blake has decided he wants Roxy but Roxy wants to play by the rules & keep herself safe. I enjoyed reading the back & forth struggle the main characters have with their trust issues. It is a love story with a violent ex, a reality tv show, a billionaire & secrets..... the drama is good. Bachelor's Secret is an easy read but has a bit of domestic violence in the end. Avoid it if this sort of thing is a trigger for you.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book.
Bachelor’s Secret by Emily Bishop a five-star read that is worth keeping the secret for. I have enjoyed everything that Emily has written and devour the words on the page, she is fast becoming a one-click author for me regardless of the story, I don’t need to read the blurb it’s just a click and read. This story is one of my favourites, Sir Blake Berringer is the latest Bachelor to be signed up for the My Billionaire Batchelor a reality TV series that would have you wanting to fall at his feet. He is PR nightmare after an incident with a reporter that isn’t everything it seems. He doesn’t want to do the show but something makes him change his mind. Roxanne Meriweather is just a lowly make-up artist, she has never had a problem following the rules they haven’t needed to be reiterated to her before, but for some reason this bachelor makes her want to break them all. Maybe it’s his cute British accent, and maybe it’s the key to his heart. Will it be enough to keep her from running? Only time will tell if they follow the rules and if they get heart-ache or something more, I mean a baby isn’t something you can hide and when the rules get broken the consequences must be paid. If you are after a sweet read, filled with romance and fun with some mild rocking thrown in, this is he read for you, showing both sides of life the fair and the fowl, which side will you fall on?
Oh wow...I really love this book.. I love it a lot. The story, the plot, the drama, and all those secrets, I love them all. I got hooked from the beginning with the story and strong characters. It's a book about a girl with a dark past and an unhinged billionaire. Two people from different world collided, with many secrets and many people trying to break them apart. And with dark past looming at them. This one definitely not typical billionaire romance for me.
As for characters. I loveee Blake, this aristocrat that got bad reputation totally swept me off m feet. And Roxanne...aaahhh I admire this strong woman, she's been through a lot but she's coming back stronger. The tension, the feelings, the connection and the banters between Roxanne and Blake are superb, I can't put this book down.
If you're looking for billionaire romance packed with drama, this one is a must.
*I voluntarily received a review copy of this book
I think this is a first time I have given a book lower than four stars. The blurb about the book sounded SO good. I was excited to read it.
I know it said that a couple of other novels were included but one of my disappointments with this book was it ended at 44%! I know its not always the author's choice to add more content but I am one of maybe a few that are not interested and nine times out of ten do not read the extra stories.
A lot of the book was quite good but then it ventured into a bit of silliness and not in a good way. The story line and the authors intentions were spot on, but some of the content not so much.
The main male character came across as a bit of a jerk and self absorbed idiot. The female main character was portrayed as being strong after suffering so much in her past but kept having these moments of decidedly lack luster weak moments that didn't go with how the author was portraying her.
Was it horrible not at all. But it won't be a book I re-read or unfortunately talk about.
I received an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review, but this is my new FAVOURITE Emily Bishop book and I bought it the moment it released!
Holy heck, this book will melt your heart! You will laugh, you will fret, you will fall in love, you will need cold showers, and you will root your buns off for Blake and Roxanne.
Roxanne, our female lead, was abused by her ex-husband and on the run from him when she fortuitously meets a woman who helps her. At a fundraiser for a shelter that helps abused women, Roxanne, who is there to garner sympathy for the shelter and thus larger contributions, contemplates taking her own life after being made a spectacle of. Blake, a wealthy English philanthropist, saves Roxanne's life and gives her hope for the future, a strength to carry on, with his message. They have an immediate connection, but the time isnt right and they part ways, though never forget. Fast forward about 5 years and Roxanne has a job on a reality show as the lead makeup artist and is putting her past behind her, moving on as best she can after her ex.
Blake, playboy extraordinaire attempting to change his image, never forgot, even after several years, the woman he saved and gave his talisman, of sorts, to. An old friend approaches him with the idea of being the bachelor on a reality television show My Billionaire Bachelor. He resists the idea until he realizes that one of the women on the crew could be the one he saved. Intrigued and hopeful that Roxanne is on set, he agrees.
They reconnect, though due to contracts and set rules they really shouldnt. Tired of fighting their growing and hidden attraction, they eventually sleep together and Roxanne becomes pregnant. Their relationship has ups and downs, many from the restrictions they're under from the show, but Blake is beyond convinced that Roxanne is worth fighting for, worth breaking rules for. Just when everything seems to be going to their plan the past invades the present and everyone pays. Ultimately true love prevails, as it should.
The writing was excellent, the pace was good, the comedic factor was there but not overly done (Blake's antics had me in stitches several times), and the sex and chemistry were blazing yet so sweet. Seriously, you need to read this book.
I could NOT put it down and have a book hangover to prove it! I know no greater compliment to extend to an author or to someone looking for a really great book.
Bachelor's Secret is a well developed story that will engage readers from the very beginning. The story open on a yacht where a fundraiser is being held to promote help for survivors of abuse. One of those survivors is Roxanne and in the middle of a panic attack, she is saved by kind words and a simple gift which alters her life.
No sooner does it begin than we are transported four years forward in time to see what a small gift could do to alter a person's life. Roxy has learned how to stand up for herself in these four years. She has made a new life for herself and she may not be financially thriving, she is very much better off than she has been. She is not a trained cosmetologist, working for a television production company who is currentely shooting a series that begins in England...that is where she meets the man that gave her the key to her new life.
Roxy may have been a victim but she has managed to rise from her past and use her past to develop a healthy sense of being. All of her changes are evident as she steps out of the shadows to embrace possibilities that hover all around her. You will recognize some of the characters because they seem familiar, like you know them and this helps solidify you to the book. The book is well written and it engages the reader right up to the end. I don't like spoilers so you will have to read it to see what happens but I think you will be pleased.
At the beginning of the story, a man tells Roxy, "A prison can become home if only you have the key.’” This is my favorite line in the book.
I received a reader copy in exchange for an honest review - I am greatly pleased to say I think the book is well deserving of a high rating and I am pleased to recommend it to readers who enjoy a good romance story that is well developed and believable.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. Wow! What a fabulous book by Ms Bishop. This is the third book by Ms Bishop and my favorite. I loved Roxanne and Blake's story. Adriana is a woman who has left an abusive marriage and is running from her ex. She attends a charity Christmas party that sponsors the shelter she has sought refuge at. Blake is one of the donaters at the party. The meet when Roxanne is at her lowest and he saves her from a bad choice. The two talk for a bit and seem to understand one another. Because of what Blake tells her, Roxanne decides it's time to start her live again and seeks a job with a woman at the party who has been helping her. She eventually begins working for Candace as a make up artist on staff at a reality series Candace has. It's been years since Roxanne has seen Blake and she finally meets him again when Blake is asked to be a part of the reality show. Blake notices Roxanne when the film crew is at his house trying to get him to agree to the show. He knows she looks familiar and decides to do the show knowing that he wants to pursue Roxanne. She is the girl from his past. The two notice the connection they have from the beginning. Roxanne is hesitant at first to allow herself to put her walls down and let Blake in. After all she needs her job and there are rules they can not break. She is also still guarded when it comes to men after what she went through with her ex. This story was such an emotional read at times. I felt Roxanne's pain as well as what Blake has gone through. This was also an upbeat read at other times when the two were together and slowly falling in love. This was such a well written story with a great HEA. I look forward to more book by Ms Bishop.
Roxanne was in an abusive relationship with her ex-husband. When she meets Blake for the first time she's on a cruise ship ready to jump over the railing. Blake talks her back onto the ship and gives her a key that he says has gotten him through some tough times. They don't meet again until several years have passed and Roxanne is working as a cosmetologist on the set of a reality show Blake is about to do. Blake can't believe its her when he sees her and stays on the show instead of quitting like he had originally planned. All the employees on the set have 3 rules to follow in order to keep their jobs
1) No wandering the bachelor’s property after dark. Broke this one once.
2) Don’t accept any gifts. Broke this one twice.
3) Don’t kiss the bachelor. I can’t even count how many times we broke this one.
Roxanne is about to break all of them because she can't stay away from Blake. When it gets out about her and Blake and what happens on set Roxanne gets sent to another job on a different set. Trying to get over Blake especially since she can't see him anymore imagine her surprise when she realizes that she hasn't gotten her period since being with Blake. After getting a test and finding out she is pregnant with Blake's baby she thinks nothing could get worse. Wrong! One of her room mates sells her out and lets the tabloids know she's pregnant. Losing her home, her job as well as her man Roxanne wasn't thinking anything else could happen until her ex-husband finds her.
This was a great story. I loved it once I started I couldn't put it down. Characters were steamy hot together. I can't wait to read more from this author.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Emily Bishop has done it, yet again, and penned a fantastic winner of a book! Our two protagonists are Roxanne, young and gorgeous but with a dark past and Sir Blake Berringer, socialite, playboy, womaniser and maybe junkie and into fist fights. But they meet for the first time when she is feeling at an all time low that she doesn't know how to dig herself out of. But Blake is her knight In Shining armour and he saves her. They don't meet again till she is working as make up artist on a celebrity show, My Billionaire Batchelor, Blake doesn't really want to be there but once he has seen Roxanne again he knows that he is exactly where he should be. There are secrets that will be revealed throughout the story but not everything is as it seems to be. The attraction that Roxanne and Blake have for each other is off the charts and he is going to go after her no matter what anyone says to him and whilst she wants to act upon their sexual attraction she is scared of publicity. Blake just ignores any rules as he has set himself the challenge of having and keeping Roxanne all to himself but someone else is watching them! Emily had me hooked at page one and kept me engaged in the story till I got to the last page. What an ending! What a story! They are just so good together and I was "rooting" for them throughout the story. A real page turner and one that I'm sure you will be pleased that you read. I received an arc of this book and voluntarily leave my honest review of it here. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED!! Bachelor's Secret
Bachelor's Secret is a sexy and exciting forbidden romance about two people hell bent on being together, no matter the consequences. I loved this story right from the blurb and even more as I started reading it. I loved Roxanne and Blake! It's hard not to root for them as the story goes. Roxanne is one kickass heroine who not only is strong and independent but a fighter. Now working as the makeup artist in the show Billionaire Bachelor, she comes face to face with Blake after five years. He was the one to help her find her inner strength after saving her from herself at her weakest point. She's drawn to Him and him to her and neither can stay away.
Blake Berringer is a wild card with not the best reputation when it comes to the media. Ask him if he cares... All he cares about is that dark haired beauty he keeps being told to stay away from. She's the only reason he signed on in the first place. And even though he's got contracts signed, he won't stay away. Especially when dangers are lurking around the corner. He'll do whatever he has to, to protect her, consequences be damned.
Emily Bishop did an amazing job with these two characters and their story. I couldn't stop reading once I started. I loved learning something new about the characters as the story went on to its epic end that left me wanting more. So please Emily, feed the nosey reader in me and maybe give me an epilogue sometime. Haha!
Bachelor's Secret is a standalone with its own HEA. Definitely one to add on your must read list!
This is a great book. It has Roxanne who got the courage to leave an abusive husband. It shows her feeling weak, until she meets an Englishman who offers some advice that she takes to heart.
Blake is a billionaire who runs into a beautiful but scared woman while at an event for charity. He never gets her name but tells her "A prison can become a home if you only have the key." he gives her a brass key. He has to give a speech and does not see the woman again.
Five years later, Blake ends up on a reality tv show and Roxanne is a make-up artist for the show. He's been invited to do this reality show to distract people from the fact that he punched one of the paparazzi for taking a picture when he was leaving a hospital. The speculation is that he is a recovering addict and he has only said that he has not and will not say why he was there.
She looks different and she doesn't think he recognizes her. She is surprised when he indicates that he does remember her and then she asked him what the key goes to. He doesn't want to tell her what it really goes to so he tells her it goes to a padlock because of what he said to her back on the night that they met.
Will Roxanne find out what the key truly goes to? While Roxanne focuses on her job Blake focuses on her trying to figure her out. He wants to know why she always seems distant, will he break down her walls?
A must-read to find out what the key goes to. A must-read to find out why she is so distant. I love the antics of the billionaire bad boy trying to win the girl who is too focused to seem to notice him.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Emily Bishop’s books are well written and brilliantly done. I enjoyed reading this story because it was full of emotional angst, scorching love scenes, and a compelling storyline. From the very first page, I was spellbound by these fantastically described characters that you will find yourself falling in love with—or not. The story held my attention and was entertaining, but also was heartwarming and emotional. The momentum of the story keeps you wanting to read more that you can’t put it down. When Roxanne and Blake, a British billionaire playboy, first meet, he rescued her from committing suicide and gave her something precious that will help her to become stronger—fate brings them back together years later when he agrees to participate in The Billionaire Bachelor reality show—but not without secrets and consequences. You get a chance to see the progression of their love—theirs was not a quick and easy love story because they had to overcome some issues, but loves does prevail. The sizzling chemistry between Roxanne and Blake is off-the-chart hot!! The scenes are well written, fast-paced and flow smoothly from one scene to the next. The book will pique your interest and draw you in from the beginning to the very end.
I read this book as part of an arc program. I enjoyed this book for many reasons. Roxanne escaped a violent husband and tried to start over. She moved across the country and was a at a women's shelter until Candace helped her get back on her feet. In the first chapter, Roxanne was still trying to get her life back and was giving up hope. She was aboard a yacht at a fundraiser when she decided she couldn't do it anymore and was going to kill herself. A man finds her and talks to her. They connect and he gets called away to give a speech. Five years later, Roxanne works as a make-up artist on Candace's show the Billionaire Bachelor. Blake Berringer is a playboy bachelor who is known for his temper and does not want to do the show but when he sees Roxanne he changes his mind. Blake wants to use this time to get close to Roxanne, but she knows it is against the rules and she could lose her job. Blake is determined to see Roxanne and he will not give up, knowing their connection was real. I really liked this book because Blake and Roxanne really loved one another and he changed so much for her. He wanted a life with her and wanted to protect her. Roxanne was a strong woman who really took control of her life back and proved to herself she was not a victim. Great one.
I want to preface this review with the quick point: this book does have some trigger subjects. I know the blurb kind of touches on it but outs worth mentioning.
That being said, this book was great! Personally I dislike reality tv so I wasn't sure how much I'd enjoy this but Roxanne is such a sweet and broken soul that from their first meeting you know Blake can help her mend. From saving her from ending her life, giving her his talisman for guidance through her obstacles, to being drawn to her again... Blake is wonderful.
When he meets up with Roxanne again 5 years later, this time on set for a bachelor type show he's been talked into, he can't stay away. The intensity of their connection, their chemistry, its amazing! But as every fairytale has a prince charming, the ugly past antagonist rears its ugly head... will Blake save her and their child again? How does Roxanne, pregnant and now unemployed, handle her past demons returning?
This was a great book you don't want to miss out on, there was some humor, great steam between the H and h, and a horrible boss you'll wish got pushed into traffic...and of course a HEA to tie a smile on your face at the end. This is my honest review of a voluntarily read ARC.
This story is about a woman, Roxanne who escapes her abusive marriage. She is at a fundraiser and gets into a trance of wanting to end her life. A knight, Blake sees her and ends up saving her and disappears. Roxanne never forgets what they spoke about and it helps heal her. Years later he recognizes her while trying to be talked into doing a TV reality show, he agrees to the show to get her. Roxanne gets her life together after sometime and becomes a makeup artist and having successfully hidden from her ex-husband. There is an instant attraction from the 1st time they meet and now it only intensified by bringing those feelings up in the open. There are rules that need to be followed on set but Blake being the Bad British he breaks them every chance he gets to be with Roxanne. Can they have real relationship around a reality TV show and when will Jared the ex come back and what problems will he create? This story has past demons, Hot sex scenes, true fear, love and happiness. My heart goes out to Roxanne who wants to believe in Blake and all he stands for and that he wants the happy ending but with her past can she move forward? I voluntarily received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
This might be my favorite of Emily Bishop's books. It was a great story line and fantastic characters. There were times I was not sure about Candace and her support of Roxanne but it all made sense in the long run.
One of my favorite things was that each chapter title was later to be found in that chapter. It felt like an Easter Egg hunt to find it. I hope that this continues in her other works. The only thing I really was bummed about was the ending. I wanted more. It seemed to end abruptly. It could just be that I am an epilogue junkie and I like to see at least a little into the future.
I adored Blake. I loved Roxanne. My heart hurt for her and what she had been through. I loved the idea of the key and the promise that it held.
"A prison can become home if only you have the key." [but] " A key changes everything."[Because] "it can keep everyone out...or it can let someone in."
The key symbolism from this book will stick with me for long. while. So simple but so profound.
I received a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for an honest review. It has been a pleasure and an honor to read her work.
Roxanne is starting over after a controlling, abusive ex-runs into the elusive loved by the tabloid British billionaire Blake at pivotal moments in her life. First is a chance encounter at a charity auction, where he saves her from jumping off the side of a yacht in desperation, not to see her again for five years- when he gets roped into being on a reality show My Billionaire Bachelor- Roxanne is one of the cosmetologists for the set! Immediately the spark that had passed between them that night all those years ago was back. But Roanne had a job to protect, and he was the kind of man she needed to stay away from. Blake will work on breaking down her defenses, and be there for her when she needs it. Will it be enough? Can she overcome her past? A sweet, suspenseful tad on the dark side read with a sexy undertone, I loved the witty banter and lengths Blake was willing to go through to get to Roxanne! Powerful, with heartache moments, yet had a light feel watching these two fight their way to each other was a spectacular treat! Great read! I would love to get an extended epilogue about these two in the future!
Adriana was in an abusive relationship. Right after she left her violent husband, she met Blake in a charity auction. He actually saved her life, she still thinks about the profound wisdom that he shared with her. Years later, they meet again in his reality TV dating show. She is one of the people that is part of his team to help him get camera ready. He doesn't want to be here doing this but he stays on so he could get to know her. He is also someone that has a really bad reputation right now, he needs all the PR he could get. We see the two have this strong connection, but Adriana can't do anything about it. She could get fired if she crossed the line. What is she going to do? Will she cross the line? Y'all should read this to find out!!!
So I really enjoyed reading this story. I love how complex the characters are, they are so multi-dimensional and definitely not flat. The characters were so lovable. I thought this was such an interesting story with such a unique plot. I love the extra forbidden aspect already with all the drama going on. This story was better than I expected. It was such a fun ready! I love it!!!
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.
Emily Bishop writes another romance with multi-dimensional characters and a story that grips you from the start. Roxanne, the heroine, escaped from an abusive ex and landed at a shelter. She had a humiliating experience and was so down that she was thinking of suicide. Blake, the hero saves her and gives her encouragement and the will to move on. As it was meant to be, they went their separate ways but never forgot the other. 5 years later, Roxanne has started building her life again and gets a job on the crew of a reality show. Blake was the Bachelor who would pick his love. He committed to the show only because of Roxanne who he wanted to see again. They reconnect and are we in for a ride then.
It's quite challenging to connect, hookup, and fall in love on a TV show. Rules, rules, and more rules. Then there's the folks who want to break them up and Roxanne's past comes back with a vengeance. This was a fabulous story. It made me gasp, cry, laugh, swoon, and fan myself due to the blazing hot sex scenes. You'll fall in love with Blake!
Roxy was a broken girl and thought nothing would ever get better. While on a ship to talk about her abuse from her ex-husband, she is contemplating jumping over the rail and taking her life. When all the sudden a strong pair of arms brings her to safety. With those arms around her, a few soft words, and a key as a gift, they part ways. Years later, Blake will recognize Roxy anywhere, even if it on the set of a reality show with him as the star. He is determined to get to know her, but she is determined to keep him at bay. She needs this job and can't risk her personal feelings for anything. The one thing she wants to find out is what they key was for. She is still wearing the key necklace everyday, and it turns out to be a key to his house. Pretty soon, all rules are being broken and things get very physical. Things then take a turn for the worse when she ends up pregnant while he is still the star of the reality show. Then her ex finds her and things get worse before they get better. I loved how Blake and Roxy interacted with each other, and how their love showed through everything. I voluntarily read an Advanced Review Copy of this book.
Roxanne escapes a bad situation with her ex husband and is attending a charity event one night. While there she is depressed and feeling hopeless, but she meets Blake. Blake spots Roxanne and is instantly attracted to her and wants to help her. He talks with her and wonders what her story is and can't help but feel a connection to her. Years later when Blake is talked into doing a reality dating show, he can't believe his luck when he finds out Roxanne is actually working on the set. It has been years but when Blake sees Roxanne the attraction is still as strong as ever. He knows he shouldn't want her but he does. When he finds out the real story about Roxanne and her past, he is determined to do everything he can to keep her for himself and to protect her. Will Blake be able to keep is word when someone from the past comes threatening Roxanne?
This was a really good read! This is a good story about overcoming abuse and learning to love and trust again. I highly recommend this book, you will fall in love with it!

Bachelor's Secret by Emily Bishop is a 4.5 star read. Roxanne left her violent husband and 2 weeks later she's contemplating throwing herself off a boat that she's on for a benefit for the woman's shelter she's staying at when a man with a British accent saves her and gives her something the cling on to, she spends the next 5 years building her life and courage. While working as a make up artist on the "Billionaire Bachelor" to show she comes across the British man again and her life starts to change again but for the better. Blake is the heir to a billion pound fortune he's also been knighted by the queen he also has a bad reputation in the press for attacking a photographer, when he's approached to appear on the "Billionaire bachelor" show he wants to turn it down until he recognises the make up artist. Roxanne and Blake's story was so well written that I felt the emotions so clearly, this is definitely my favourite book by Emily Bishop. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Roxanne Meriweather left her abusive husband with the help of a women’s group, but on the night of a fundraiser she sets out to do something drastic when she’s saved by a larger than life British man.
Sir Blake Berringer, philanthropist & heir to a banking fortune has had his demons over shadowing him his whole life always the one to save those in need he sees something in Roxy that touches him... years later he’s the Billionaire Bachelor #6, on a show he doesn’t want to be on but signed up for anyway.... and when he sees the feisty make up artist on the show he remembers the woman he saved, only she’s different now.
But the show has its rules, no wandering around the bachelor’s mansion, no kissing the bachelor, no fraternising... and Roxy has broken all the rules with Blake... their connection strong even years later... but can they deal with the hype surrounding Blake? Can they have their cake and eat it too?
I liked this story, but it left me with some unanswered questions... but it was a decent story nonetheless, with engaging characters. Worth the read
Roxanne escapes an abusive marriage and is saved from jumping off a yacht by Blake, Billionaire British man knighted by Queen Elisabeth. They meet later when he is being interviewed for Our Billionaire Bachelor. Roxanne is a makeup artist still hiding from her ex-husband. They have an instant attraction but the rules of show forbid them to have anything to do with each other unless it is business. Will they be able to see what this attraction is? Will Roxanne be able to stay hidden from her pysco ex-husband? This book has fear, suspense, lust, demons from the past, sexy scenes, and love. Grab a copy of the book yourself and start reading it. I couldn’t put the book down from page one. Emily takes her characters and turns them into two dimensional so we can inter into their world and have empathy with them. The plot contains problems that occur in our daily lives and it intertwines with the characters flawlessly. I received an ARC and I am leaving a voluntary review.
Blake and Roxanne met for only a few fateful moments five years ago during a dinner on yacht to support a charitable organization. He gave her a key and unknowingly saved her life that night in more ways than one.
Fast forward five years and we find British bad boy Blake as the newest star on a reality show about billionaire bachelors. As fate would have it, Roxanne works as a make-up artist for the show. Attraction blooms between the two, but their individual pasts, as well as the ‘rules’ the producer of the show has laid down, threaten to keep them apart.
Will an unexpected pregnancy make it easier or more difficult for Blake and Roxanne to be together?
I thought the story was great and the love scenes were off the charts hot! I did find the way that it ended a bit odd, but I ask that you pick it up and judge for yourself.
I received an advance reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Roxanne and Blake meet at a charity event on a yacht. Just as Roxanne feels she doesn't have enything to live for Blake speaks up and gets her off the ledge and safely on bench. They start to chat and she feels better about leaving her abusive husband just weeks ago. When Blakes gives her a key and encourages her ro move forward she takes those words to heart. Five yrs later they meet when Blake agrees to a show hoping to get close to Roxanne. He hasn't been able to forget her and when he sees the key around her neck he knows she is special. They develop feeling the more they see each other but so many complications arise and Roxanne keeps comparing him to her abusive ex. I couldn't stop reading until the end to find out what happens. Roxanne wants to be happy but she constantly has to fight against what happened to her. Its a very relatable character overcoming domestic abuse.
The bachelor has a secret, but is it what you think it is? Blake has a reputation for being "unhinged". In an effort to repair his image, he agrees to do a reality dating show. But it just might be his downfall.
Roxanne has a troubled past she is trying to put behind her. It has taken her a long time to get back on her feet, and she is determined not to let anything get her off track. Somebody took a chance on her once, and she will not let her down. Not even for a rich bachelor.
This story was so good. It has a lot of humor, and also a bit of a darker, sad side. There is romance and passion as well. The story line is great, it flows well from chapter to chapter. The main characters are amazing, with good, strong secondary characters. The story is quite gripping, and you will be turning those pages all the way to the end before you know it!
I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC of this book. This is my honest opinion.
First of all I have to say the writing is terrific. There are some great lines about Ms Madden that just cracked me up: ~ Ms. Madden marches off, embroiled in a constant state of light PMS. ~ Ms. Madden tears through assistants like toilet paper. The story does have a serious undertone about recovering from spousal abuse and how the protagonist, Roxanne tries to move on with her life with the help of a billionaire and a friend. The author's plot line was executed well. The scenes flowed nicely and kept me engaged throughout the whole story. The ending was a little abrupt but that's because I always like to know the outcome of a pregnancy 👶🏻. I recommend this book for your reading pleasure. Enjoy! This book had me hooked from the very beginning and I couldn’t put it down until the very end. Roxanne was an abused woman who escaped her abusive ex-husband. At first she didn’t know what to do or how to handle her life. That’s when she first encountered Blake. He saved her that day by giving her a key and some words that stuck with her that helped her pick up the pieces and move on with her live. Five years later, she was at his door with the producer of a reality show The Billionaire Bachelor, that wanted him to star in a show. Blake seemed against it at first. Until he locked eyes with Roxanne. He remembered her instantly and wanted to spend more time with her. There was something about her. There are so many twists and turns to keep you interested in this book you just can’t put it down. I absolutely loved it!
Oh, no! Really? A reality show. Perfect. I hate reality shows. But this one?? Ooh, baby! For this one I can make an acception. Hedges and horses, and magical gardens…
Years ago, he gave her a key… and a piece of his heart. And when he finds her again, he’s not about to let her go. And nothing will stop him. Not contracts. Not rules. And certainly not one particularly obnoxious harpy-bitch producer named Candace. (Sorry. Just had to get that out.)
Emily Bishop is doing it again, you know. Twisting me up with emotions and all kinds of angst while I’m rooting desperately for these two.
And I am falling hopelessly in love with their love story-- and rooting them on relentlessly in the face of all adversity.
And there is adversity. How can this snarled up mess ever come out okay?? But that’s the beauty of it, you know. Emily Bishop, and love never fail me. 5 stars.
