Making Our Way Back

Lucy

One minute I had my best friend, my only friend in my life.
I got through my shitty existence because of Kane.
He was my everything, my best friend and my saviour at school.
He saved me every day from the school bullies, made living with my Mother so much easier.
Then one day he just disappeared.
No explanation, no goodbye… nothing.
I got on with my life, slowly I mended my broken teenage heart.
Now I’m one of London’s most notorious divorce attorneys, but deep inside I’ve got so much anger and hurt.
Then like a ghost from the the grave, Kane shows up needing me.
It’s been thirteen years since I’ve seen him, only now I don’t know if I want to punch him or rip his clothes off.
I still don’t know why he left me when we were fourteen, but I have every intention of finding out.
Even if it breaks me even more.
I have to know, he’s the only boy I’ve ever loved.

Kane

I never thought for one minute I would have to leave her behind, but I had to.
It was taken out of my hands.
She thought I just protected her at school, but she has no idea what else I’ve done.
She’s always been in my thoughts from the minute I left her.
I should never be allowed to just sit and think. Because when I do my mind always drifts back in time, a time when dealing with my druggie Dad was actually simple. With them thoughts always come the flashbacks and she is always in them. Her crying in the girls toilets, her laughing and playing on the rope swing I made for us at our spot. She was my happy place. Then I monumentally fucked up and I left her. She has no idea what happened after I left her that day at school crying, I didn’t want her knowing. I know if she did then she would think I was some sort of monster, but what I did, I did it for her.
Everything was always for her.
She is the only girl I’ve her loved.
I just hope she doesn’t hate me when she finds out, because she will find out.

I started reading this novel and the story had caught so much my interest!! I was deliriously happy and thought “this is certainly a 5 stars read!” It was beautifully written and the twists were unexpected and intriguing.

Kane and Lucy were best friends since the age of 15 y.o.. They had feelings for each other yet never expressed. They were supposed to meet one night, but Kane never showed up and just disappeared. The next time they met it was 13 years after...

⚠️ ⚠️SPOILER AHEAD ⚠️⚠️

So, Kane now was more than wealthy and was looking for a lawyer as to get a divorce from his 2 year bitch wife. Lucy who was now a lawyer, and without having knowledge of the client, took the case and you can imagine the rest! Sparks, tears, explanations, lost love found! Head over heels!!!
Later in the story they spent a great day in bed together but something Lucy said triggered Kane and he left devastated Lucy’s apartment.
He went to his office where his bitch wife made a surprise-appearance and they had sex!!! “One final goodbye!’ 🙄

You see, I like the hero who is arrogant, confident, determined, fierce, relentless and loves deep! But when he humiliates not only himself but also his love of his life, then there is no reason for me to keep reading.

Was not expecting how much i was going to love this book at all. This has thrown me for six with how this all unfolded. My first read from this author but i will tell you now this will be my first of many trust me.

Kane and Lucy, what a couple and what a journey they had to go through to be together, they met 13 years ago when they were teenagers that came from rough backgrounds.Kane was Lucy's protector unbeknown to her but then he left her when she was fifteen years old and she never saw him again until now. There was a reason for this but you will have to read the book to find out.

This was a soul destroying, heartfelt story about two souls that were made for each other but there journey was tainted from the off,the twist and turns of this story never let me up for breath as i didn't know where this was going and how these two were ever going to undo the past to get through it for the future they they deserved. The only grip i had were that there was a lot of typos through out,but a huge four & half Stars for this heart wrenching story.

Holy wow! What an emotional ride this was! Lucy and Kane's story will twist you into knots! Sweet hope, anguish and heartbreak, inner strength and determination plus steamy hot chemistry and love fill the pages. The plotline was impressive and held my attention. The secondary characters were amazing and brought so much extra to their story.

Beta read this book for the beautiful Jen last month. I fell in love with this story from the minute Jen started writing it and am so so thrilled it’s had such amazing reviews!!

Lucy and Kane were the best of friends, soul mates really, at 15 they had only each other as their families were most definitely not the best. Kane looked after Lucy, and protected her from the evil that surrounded them. Until one day he left her waiting, and he never showed up, just disappeared and she never saw him again.

13 years later, fate brings them back together and Lucy has to decide if she will let Kane close to her again, can she risk being heartbroken all over again?

This story had me in its claws from the off, like totally gripped me and wouldn’t let me put it down!!! The twists in this book left my head spinning, totally unpredictable I never saw them coming. I encountered every emotion whilst reading MOWB. I laughed, cried, screamed and even threatened to throw my kindle (although I didn’t because let’s be real, what woman doesn’t love her kindle???) lol!!!

The push and pull Lucy and Kane go through to try and get over the past and look to the future is enticing, there are many will they?/won’t they?moments that leave you desperate to read on to find out what happens next.

The sex scenes are hot and heavy, and totally believable and realistic, and they make for some HOT scenes throughout the story.

Jens style of writing is refreshing, it’s not your typical hearts and flowers kind of romance, and that makes it all the more interesting. I have so much love for this book, especially as I know how hard Jen worked on it. All in all it’s a beautiful story of heartbreak, second chances and finding happiness and I adored every single part of it

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 all the way xxxxx

What a book!!!!

What can I say about this book....but BLOODY AMAZING....Jennah never fails to write a story that has you feeling like an emotional wreck....this whole book has me going through every emotion....I honestly can’t stress on how amazing it was.

Kane and Lucy are the best of friends, life has not been good for them and life is about to get even worse....coming back into each other lives 13 years later...nothing will prepare them for everything that gets thrown there way.

At the beginning of this story I was a bundle of nerves of how this story was going to go, and let me tell you this book didn’t disappoint me....I honestly wanted to phone this author up and just say WTF at parts of the story....I honestly never saw half the twists and turns this story took me on, it had me wanting to throw my kindle across the room, it had me crying, it had me smiling at times so big...I thought my face would break, it had me completely shell shock as well at times.

Jennah has again produced a story that will stay with me forever. Definitely deserves 5 🌟 in my eyes it deserves so so so much more. Her writing is absolutely amazing and she just captures you with her words. Honestly she is an amazing author and definitely one of my top authors. I can’t wait for more from this author in the future.

A definite must read that will have you riding a rollercoaster of emotions❣
WOW just WOW❣

I pre-ordered this book because I read Syren's Angel and Syren's Heaven & Hell also written by Jennah Thornhill and I absolutely loved them and Making Our Way Back did not disappoint❣

I was devastated when I never had the time to read this on release day but my god it was worth the wait yet again this author blew me away with her creative writing the twists and turns I never saw coming and the chemistry between the characters.
I am so jelouse of Lucy as she has Kane (lol) he is a force to be reckoned with, the love he has for her had my heart melting and my knickers wet!

Lucy lost her best friend when she was 15 at a time she needed him most and without a single word from him in 13yrs so the day he walks back into her life she hates him as much as she still loves him and she wants answers but unknown to her the answers might just destroy her!

Kane has his reasons why he's been out of Lucy's life for 13yrs but not a single one of those days was she not on his mind and in his heart but once they reunite the truth will eventually have to come out but will she hate him more than than when he left her all those years ago? With the amount of obstacles coming their way who knows if they will get the HEA?
You will have to read it and find out❣ (it's so worth the ride)

3.5/4* from Susan at Ladies Living in Bookland

Making Our Way Back is a stand-alone novel, and my first read by Jenna Thornhill. I expected dark, but had to wait to get my fill - the dark secrets only being exposed later in the story. The characters, Lucy and Kane, were childhood sweethearts, and admit to thinking *oh, here we go again!*....but was pleasantly surprised at the twists and turns this book held.

On a personal level, some of the things that came out, I couldn’t have forgiven, and in that maybe I’m a little closed-minded, but having said that, it definitely felt like a fresh read. Seemed a little sickly sweet at points, but the darker elements definitely swayed this for me. Some of the grammar seemed a little off - but this doesn’t affect my review rating, as this was an ARC so may have been updated :)

My first but not my last read by this author!

Excerpt:
... we’re living proof that no matter what cruel obstacles life throws at you, if you love that person enough you will always make your way back to each other.

So I've read a few books by Jennah so far and I picked this one next because it's a standalone.. but wow this is one fab story.

It's full of all the emotions you could want and the journey these characters go on is one heart wrenching rollercoaster.
More than once it had an OMG she didnt just do that moment thrown in too!
So Kane and Lucy are childhood friends.. they are each others rock until one day when Kane just disappears and ruins what positivity Lucy has left in life... she just doesn't know why?
When life strangely brings them back into each others lives we have drama angst and lots of craziness throughout.
The only downside is few editing issues and typos but it didnt take away from the story line.

.3 and a half stars

This was my first novel by this author. It was a good story,a fight for true love, albeit a bit far fetched. The love between the two main characters kept me interested, but the plot line of her mam blackmailing Kane to sleep with her, and then no one telling Lucy anything about it for 13 years was an interesting premise but a bit too dark and far out for me.
I love that they got their happy ending, and they both were able to move forward. I would certainly read more books from this author.

Making Our Way Back is a first read for me from Jennah Thornhill. I absolutely loved it and I could not put it down! This is the story of Lucy and Kane who have known each other since they were kids. They were more than just best friends. While unaware to Lucy, Kane has spent his life protecting her. Now that Kane is back in her life after 13 years how will she react? This story is full of emotion. You will laugh, cry, and want to throat punch someone. This is such a great read!

True Love Prevails

This was my first read of a book by this author, and I truly loved it. It tells the story of Lucy and Kane. They became best friends in high school, and Kane always protected her. One day, they were supposed to meet, and Kane didn't show up. What happened to him? Thirteen years later, they meet again. Can Lucy forgive Kane? Can Kane get Lucy back? I loved how strong the characters are. You know they want to be together, but so much has happened in the past. This book made me a bit emotional which tells me it is a really good read. Who doesn't love a book that makes you not want to put it down! If you want the answers to my questions, then you need to read this book! You will not be disappointed!

Mind blowing and intense

I went into this story expecting one thing and came out the other side with some serious whiplash.
I haven’t read anything’s mg by Jennah before but this girl seriously knows how to keep a reader guessing and to keep you intrigued till the very last page.

If you want a book full of fairytale notions then you will be sorely disappointed. But if you want a real life, raw, emotional love story then get to reading this beauty
