The French artist Orlan is infamous for her 'operation/performances'. In which she would have plastic surgery performed on her face to change her features to look like those of famous beauties from the history of art. These operations were performed whilst Orlan was still conscious, carried out in operating theatres decorated in a baroque and quasi-religious manner. This is my body...... This is my software..... documents Orlan's performances in the 1990s as well as providing an account of her eartier works, dating from the 1970s, and up-to-date images from her current work. Along with provocative imagery, the book includes critical essays along with an introduction by David Croneberg.
