"It wouldn’t surprise me if you hadn’t heard of him. After all, interesting characters come and go all the time and the world is left unawares. And not every Nick Adams, Quentin Compson, Nick Carraway, or Holden Caulfield has a Hemingway, Faulkner, Fitzgerald, or Salinger to capture them before they disappear into oblivion. Only a few are so lucky. The rest are born, live out their experiences, and die without the world being any the wiser. And perhaps this is for the best. All our lives we’re told we’re unique in our own special ways, but perhaps only a few are worthy enough of such a trope, are significant enough to have authors, are eternal enough to exist as little inky marks on a page. And so here is where I attempt to explain the origin and significance of the artifact you are about to read."
