Rate this book
As the Ice Queen of the Phonogram universe, Emily Aster is only afraid of two things: her past catching up and spending time in dodgy indie venues. In the latest of the seven-stories-in-one-night of the Singles Club, she's having to deal with both. Plus, two complete back-up stories featuring the art of LEIGH GALLAGHER (2000AD, The Witching) and LEE O'CONNOR.

I'm addicted to the Aesthetic this series seems to sweat off itself- it's like even if you never really fancied the party scene (like muueeeehhh) you can still enjoy it from the comfort of the couch you find yourself reading Phonogram on.

I highly recommend one of those "the sound of music in 2008 from inside a bathroom" videos on YouTube while reading these. Just do it. You won't regret it and your reading experience will be greatly improved. I feel like you can't read this without it- it should be a requirement.
"Can't read this without having pop records playing somewhere in the background."

I won't act like i knew what half of the esoteric narratives with the mirror were trying to say- I still need to read the main series- but if you wanna feel transported- actually TRANSPORTED to a different place- especially a party- then I have NEVER been as thoroughly delighted to discover a comic that did it as effectively as Phonogram did.

That's the only reason I do it.
I don't read this for the namedropping of artists or pretentious characters who know too much and are just oh so too cool for school.
I do it for the look- I do it for the conversations that don't really seem to go anywhere but still feel important and are somehow highly readable despite their enigmatic and often confusing flare.

This issue made me happy because of how thoroughly I felt like I was there.
That never happens with movies because movies do all the work for you.
You have to put yourself there in books and it doesn't always work if the book sucks. I'm not entirely sure how Phonogram leaps over this hurdle and I don't particularly care. It just does so in ways I've seen so few books manage.

This series is a treasure I'm glad I stayed alive long enough to find.

You can’t out run yourself.

Girl split her personality in two to get away from the “cringe” version of herself, but now it’s back. Literally as the ghost of her former self.
This one was interesting but very short. I know we will get back to this character throughout the night but this had been the biggest cliff hanger so far and I am excited to see where it goes…
