Nourish is a love letter to the evolving woman.Written in 2017 by Krystle J Bailey, Nourish encourages the reader to drop out of the race they never signed up for and begin the journey to unrivaled self-love. Through raw storytelling and poetry, Krystle takes the reader on a journey of self-discovery. In a world that seems set on convincing a generation of women that they are anything less than enough, Nourish flips that narrative on its head through the power of connection, love, and vulnerability.
This revised edition, which begins with a new preface by the author, includes all of the original stories and poetry.
Krystle J Bailey is a proud wife and mother of two, a wellness coach, business mentor, blogger, social media public figure, and motivational speaker. With a lifelong love of writing, Krystle is bringing her dream of writing to life in her first publication, Nourish.
Her daily work involves motivating women on a personal level, helping them to live well in every area of their life from their fitness journey to their spiritual journey. She prides herself on using her God given voice to speak love, light, and positivity into the lives of others.
Krystle uses her connections to other women to create communities where every woman has the opportunity to thrive and grow into who she was created to be, to seek her most authentic self, and to begin living boldly in her truth.
"The way I choose to live life is that I overflow my cup so much that it pours into the lives of others; that the goodness, the hope, the positivity, encouragement, and empowerment that flow out of me when my cup is poured into everyone I meet in one way or another."
There are simply no truer words to describe Krystle Bailey and the message that she delivers in this book. If you, as a woman, have ever had a moment where you doubted yourself, this book is for you. If you, as a woman, feel like you have too often heard women break each other down and were heartbroken by it, this book will heal those wounds. If you, as a woman, are looking for something to motivate you to go after what you truly want to do, give this book a shot. I'm confident that it will do just that.
This book spoke to me in ways that can only truly be explained by referencing some of my favorite quotes and what they meant to me personally:
"We see perfect moms, perfect bodies, perfect marriages, perfect kids, perfect, perfect, perfect. And most of us have found ourselves at one point or another comparing our lives to the lives on the screens. Guess what? They're a hot mess too. We're all just trying to figure this all out. Being a good wife, a good mom, or a good role model doesn't come with handbooks. We're all put on this earth with a purpose and we are given absolutely no hints at figuring out what that purpose is. I'll give you one hint though. Your purpose is not her purpose and her purpose is not yours."
It's so easy to get caught up in our flaws because we look around and see so many people that seem like they have it together so much more than we do. Sometimes, I just need a reminder that they all crack and crumble at times, too. That no one is truly perfect and that it's okay. That there is beauty in the chaos if we just look close enough.
"If there is one thing we need to fix as women, it's this false idea that we need to fix anything at all. Who you are is who you were created to be, and who you will become is still left untold but she is enough too."
This idea means the world to me. We all have our stories to tell of being told we aren't enough in one way or another. My story is probably not much different than your own. Teenagers can be ruthless. The ones in my life were no different. It took me years to be okay with the flaws they used to focus on. And that was after years of trying to correct them. I hope the message in this book allows young women to get to the point of being happy with themselves much sooner than I did.
Which leads me to what is one of the most powerful lines in the book to me: "Think for a moment if your daughter, your niece, your grandchild, your best friend's daughter could grow up in a world where women not only loved each other but they loved themselves."
I have a 4 year old, beautiful little girl who loves herself. She loves who she is. She knows she is loved, beautiful, and a kind and gentle soul. And she is in no way afraid to be her true self. At some point, there may be someone in the world who tries to steal that love from her. My biggest mission in life is to make sure that she has a tribe that builds her up enough to take those moments in stride and not let them get the best of her.
For years I told myself I didn't need self improvement books. But as I watched an amazing woman on her journey with personal development, I was motivated to give them a shot. Go figure that amazing woman accomplished writing an amazing book in that genre. 😉 Thank you for sharing your soul with us, Krystle. I have a feeling the message in this book is going to be heard widely, as each woman who reads it shouts it from the rooftop because they just have to share the beauty. ❤️
I loved this book. I felt it spoke truth and honesty and gave an uplifting perspective. It shared God throughout but wasn't over the top. The author shared her heart and soul.
As an avid reader I have read many motivational books over the years. Therefore, I can confidently say Nourish: A Journey to Loving And Embracing The Woman Within by author Krystle J. Bailey is an outstandingly satisfying book of inspiration that provides a heartfelt dose of food for thought.
With a smart and intensely compassionate flare, Bailey writes about issues many woman often struggle with in silence. Using her life experiences as a teaching tool, she tells her story of self acceptance, motherhood, marriage, as well as many others, in a very relatable way. Brilliantly laid out, the title of each chapter begins with a letter. For example, the beginning chapter is titled, “N: Nix the Comparison Game” next is, “O: Open Your Heart and Mind”, followed by, “U: Unleash the Strongholds” and “R: Realize Your Truths”. This goes on for the remainder of book, ultimately spelling out the word NOURISHMENT. Also she eloquently opens each chapter with a beautiful poem.
What I appreciate most about this book is Bailey’s writing style. As a very skillful writer, she writes with an accurateness combined with a poetic flow that makes her message very artistic, yet clear and comprehensive. Her message is direct and straight to the point. Each page is packed with substance, no extra wording, no fluff. Once I began reading this book I could not put it down.
Nourish is a rewarding read I recommend for every woman; for it is a resonating book filled positivity, hope and inspiration.
I picked up this book with hopes of finding myself. It has definitely lead me on the way to that. I related so much to the journey of the author. I laughed and cried. This book has made me want to love myself. It has made me change they way I act so that my son will love himself. I encourage anyone to read this book. She has her faith in God but isn’t preachy and encourages to follow your own faith. I especially loved that aspect.
Unlike many self help/motivational books that center themselves on a gimmicky strategy or make you feel like you have to buy into something... Nourish is a true woman's journey to finding her truth, living her life free of comparison, and loving the best way she know's how. I love how Krystle doesn't leave anything out.. her story included all of the dark places she traveled to in her life, her "Rock Bottoms". She does this to show the reader that we aren't alone! Finding your truth doesn't have to be a struggle. Open your heart and mind and let yourself believe that you are beautiful. No matter what!
This definitely could be classified as a memoir/self-help mashup, IMO. It works! The chapter on Struggles Create Your Story was so powerful! I’ll be thinking about that one for a while. This story is raw, intimate, and deeply human. It explores healing and the complicated ways we learn to care for ourselves and others. Bailey managed to write a story that is both heavy and comforting at the same time.
