I am dead. I died on the 31st of December, and ever since then, existence has been a nightmare.
Pain, pale blue eyes, and stars are the only memories I have to help me find my killer.
A vengeance spirit has given me my chance at revenge, but to get my vengeance, I must take others' revenge first.
My name is Christina. I am dead, I am undying, and I am vengeance.

Cece Rose is the proud owner of one dog, two cats, two turtles, and one annoying boyfriend.
She hails from Devon in the South-West of England, but dreams of sunny skies and sand between her toes. Although, whenever abroad, she'll moan about the heat and the sand that gets everywhere.
She has largely convinced all who know her that she's a vampire, mainly due to her nocturnal habits and tendency to bite. In reality, it's because her creativity only ever strikes when the sky is dark and the stars are shining. (Plus, it's actually quiet enough to concentrate on writing when everyone else in the world is sleeping.)
This book broke my heart. I cried during parts of this book. The author made you really feel for Christina and what she went through. There are some twists that I never seen coming
Don't expect romance. There isn't any (yet). Be prepared to (probably) ugly cry.
This book is written in 2 different people's views. You get to hear Christina's story. But also get to hear someone else's thoughts on what she is and what she went through.
Overall this book is magnificent. There are some (possible) triggers in this book. So make sure to read the authors disclaimer before purchasing.
Guys what can I say about Vengeance except to say that I am in love with this new series by CeCe. Vengeance will make you shed a tear or maybe even two. I will admit, she had me close a time or two. But to start off with why I loved it so much I will tell you what I can with out giving away spoilers. First off, CeCe is a freaking genius when it comes to epilogues. She draws the readers in and hooks them every damn time. In Vengeance she starts it off with how she did the Fated Series. Our main character Christina schedules and appointment with Doctor Rothwell. She starts telling the doctor about her journey on becoming a Vengeance. We get to jump from present to past, to present again. May I add it was not hard at all to follow the storyline. Secondly, CeCe did a wonderful job of handling sensitive subjects and made it look easy. Her story flows effortlessly, keeping me hooked to find out what happens next. Thirdly, I became so invested in these characters. Of course with Christina, she is so strong and what she went through, her struggles. You just want to fight along with her. Her struggles as well with being judge, jury and executioner, can she really do what a Vengeance is supposed to? And holly freaking amaze balls Nemo. I completely fell for him, and I need more of him. I am still on the fence about Zed, for reasons you will find out at the end. Fifth, that ending though, yeah it is a cliffhanger but it perfectly sets up book two Justice. So in conclusion would I recommend Vengeance? Hell yeah I would. Give it a shot, I promise you will like it.
Vengeance by Cece Rose is an imaginative, emotional journey. Christina is dead, she was murdered on December 31st, yet she still exists. She is a Vengeance. She answers the call of those willing to pay the price for revenge. She is the worst Vengeance ever...
Christina is a tragic character that manages to gain your love. It's wrong, but how many of us could turn down the offer of revenge moments after being murdered? Christina manages to keep her humanity even with her new job. Her pain is palpable and her stubborn resistance is impressive. Nemo and Zed are intriguing. I want more of both.
This is a dark book, sometimes grim, no lighthearted fluff here. Even though this is reverse harem series, there is no romance in this first book. Don't let any of this scare you off. This book is excellent. It's quite possibly the best book this talented young writer has published so far. Christina's story captures the reader. It feels very personal. It makes you uncomfortable, worried, sad. You feel like you are more a participant in the story than a reader. I was so entranced with Christina's story that I didn't put the book down once I started. Normally I prefer my reading on a lighter level, but this book captured my attention immediately and my heart soon after. My heart broke for Christina repeatedly. When I finished reading I felt a little bruised, but pleased with the outcome and hopeful. I felt a sense of power returned. A story that can produce emotions from me at this level is a worthy read. Long after I finished this book, the story stayed with me. It definitely gave me a lot to consider. I am so interested to see where Christina's (after)life goes.
There are possible triggers. Please read the author's note if you feel that you may be affected.
This is just the beginning of the story and I have to now prepare myself for more from the next installment.
If you are looking for a light read, this is NOT it. The author takes you on such an emotional ride in this first book. I was definitely ugly crying throughout!
Cece does such a great job building her characters! The MC goes through so much up to this point, and it shows just how strong she and how strong she will be.
Well written! Great start and I hope her journey is rewarding.
This book made me so emotional. It was a dark story but also showed determination. I loved Christina. She is a resilient character and brings vengeance to people that can't do it for themselves. This book was surprising with all these twists happening that I didn't see coming. I would definitely recommend this book.
Vengeance was a great read. Cece is an amazing author who manages to make the reader truly experience everything the main character experiences. Which, if you cannot read certain content due to it being a trigger, please do not read this.
Christina is out with her cousin and her cousin's fiance to celebrate New Year's Eve when she decides to leave early. This will be the worst decision she's ever made because she never makes it home. She suffers a violent attack that ends in her death. However, she doesn't cease to exist there. A vengeance spirit comes and makes her an offer. She can go quietly and never suffer any pain again or she can get vengeance on her attacker. The catch, in order to get her own vengeance she has to first seek revenge for others.
I really enjoyed reading about Christina's journey as she tries to come to terms with her new Job. Can she exact revenge on other's behalf? Can she be judge, jury and executioner? Will she be able to "live" with herself if she kills the monsters that walk free, even if they no longer deserve to live?
You'll have to read it to find out. You won't regret it.
Vengeance post Dec. 5th This story reads like an old time detective novel with the dame talking to the private dic. It is a paranormal thriller. It has some very dark times but in the end a happy twist of an ending. I like that the FMC evolves by doing the right thing consistently. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy thrillers!
Wow! This read was better than I was expecting! Not that I wasn't expecting something good from this author having enjoyed her previous books, but I really felt that this book was sublime and actually the best thing I've read from this author to date.
This isn't a pretty and light book, no this is a deep, dark and hard read but the way the author has written it, in two different time frames, well it just works really well. I felt whilst reading the book that I was both having the story told to me and experiencing it as the main character, Christina all at the same time. I was so drawn into reading this that I didn't put it down for a break once, and with the content of this book being quite dark that's surprising in itself as I normally need to take a bit of a breather when reading content like this.
This is the first book in the series and as of yet there's no romance in it. I'm glad the author decided not to go down that route yet as with what happens to the MC at the beginning if the book, it just wouldn't of felt right yet. This book is about dealing with the anger and the grief of what has happened. It focuses on the different ways these are dealt with and the many various paths you can walk down depending on how you deal with these feelings. This is definitely a very emotional book and has left me very contemplative.
I really liked and enjoyed reading Vengeance. It was different and that's refreshing to read. But it was also dark and dealt with some very difficult subject matter, which that author has managed to deal with well and not just brush aside. There's a lot more to this book than seems at first and I can't wait to uncover more of the story surrounding the other characters in the next book. The end of this book felt right, I thought it was the right decision in the end however I feel that we were left on a cliffhanger, although not your typical one, because there's just so much more of what's happening that I need to know. This book has me excited for what's to come and next and I really can't wait to read book two.
In Vengeance, Christina goes through a tragic assault and finds herself as a Vengeance spirit, having to help others with their vengeance in order to someday seek her own vengeance on her attacker. We get to meet some different types of paranormals throughout the story, who will have bigger roles I hope in future books. BTW loved the Finding Nemo reference :) The story is told from 2 points of view, from Christina herself and from the perspective of Dr. Amelia Rothwell.
I really loved seeing Cece venture into a more darker themed book (not that I don't adore her other books, she is always a pre-order, one click author for me!!). I liked how this book was more raw, more intense than a lot of the recent RH releases. This one brings up real life tragedies and I appreciated how realistic she made the MC's feelings and actions. She really engrossed herself into this story and you can tell because even though its paranormal, its one of the more realistic reads.
I can't wait to read Book 2 and see the relationships bloom for Christina. Book 1 was really setting the stage for the rest of the story. This is a slower burn RH and not instant love (we must be patient, it will be worth it!). Please read the trigger warnings before reading, there are some scenes that got me teary eyed because of my own experience with those kinds of tragedies. I liked the shifting perspectives and the surprises that were slipped in throughout the book. I really enjoyed the different character (Nemo, Zed, Kayla) and think it would be cool to get novellas or serials from some of their perspectives (or they get some chapters in future books), especially Nemo. I wanted to know what happened when he kept sending Christina away! You should definitely read this book/I highly recommend this book!
Totally unexpected... this is true to Cece’s style of writing which you will not be disappointed. The setting of being with a therapist as you tell a story is new to me but I enjoyed that point of view. You have a recently dead person who is out for vengeance of her killer. But it goes deep into, why you should take vengeance, why is it it right for you to have it. Should you do it or not. What makes you better then them? Those are questions the MC goes through as the ending is just what you think you expected but I have a feeling the Cece will have Christina’s character do a 180 later.... I think we still have lots to see more of Kol, Nemo and definitely Zed in the coming books. I can’t wait to see what Cece does with these characters. I did enjoy this start of the series. The mystery of who the murder is... how everything plans out. Do recommend this book.
I wasn't really in the zone for a darker read when I started this book. I'm so glad I finished it! It was really good and entirely unlike anything I've read before.
Be warned, there's some potentially triggering material in this story. For more info, just ask (me or the book page).
It's a shorter story about a girl who's murdered and escapes "death" by becoming a "vengeance". This is someone who's supposed to get revenge for other souls. But she's not very good at it. She's got Nemo there to train her though. And it seems there's more to him than meets the eye.
The story itself bounces back and forth between Christina's history and present day. She's telling her story to a therapist.
She also meets Zed along the way and makes friends with a witch who helps her learn more about her own past.
I really liked the way the characters grew in the story and how things left off. I can't WAIT to see how things progress with Zed and what becomes of things with Nemo.
OMG! This was such a cool book! CeCe has done it again! I loved this story! It was unlike anything I've ever read. Christina was brutally murdered and was given a choice to pass on or to take her vengeance and become a Vengeance spirit. But once she made her choice, she's not prepared to do what she needs to do to fulfill her job as a Vengeance. Her "mentor"' Nemo, is there to help guide her and have her back. She meets some interesting "people" along the way...Kayla-a white witch, Zed-a Justice and Kol-a black reaper. The whole thing being told as a meeting with a psychologist. I seriously was enthralled with this book. It just kept getting better and better. And I seriously cannot wait for the next book in the series!!
Trigger warning, this book contains a few scenes that may not be suitable for all readers.
That being said, this is an eloquently written dark masterpiece. Christina is our MC, she is unbelievable relatable and resilient. This story goes down a path that not all may be comfortable reading.
There is no romance in this book, it is a dark thriller. However it does hint that the romance aspect may change later in this series.
What can I say, I loved this book. There is so much raw emotion. It was beautifully crafted and set up the rest of the series magnificently. I'm looking forward to seeing where the rest of this series goes. I really enjoyed that it was a darker novel and loved the sequence In which it was written.
Damn you Cece for making me cry! That never happens... and you have managed to do it multiple times in this absolutely amazing book. I have to admit, it was not an easy read for me. My emotions were all over the place but I am so happy that I continued reading because the ending is so rewarding. Cece is one of those authors who is able to create a plot that good that you don't see it coming. The story is incredibly original and the different POVs make it that much better. The change between POVs do not seem forced but together create the perfect view on what happend to our dear Christina. Christina's story is a difficult one and certainly not a happy one but definitely worth knowing. Go out and read this book, it is worth every tear.
This book is worth reading it’s a slow burner which if I’m honest I’m not to into and it actually took me a while to get into the groove with this book I’m big fan of cece so i continue reading and i was not disappointed.. Chrissy is defiantly a character i can relate to and i actually like that she didn’t hope into bed with the guys. She took time discovered herself delt with what happen to her own her own. She didn’t have sex to forget or had to be saved their strength in the fact that she did everything on her own and i honestly glad i hung in there and read the whole book. Can’t wait to see what in store for Chrissy
This is a fresh, well written story with a different storyline that will have you hooked. It is at times emotional and thought provoking and I found myself asking questions about my own morality
Told in a dual POV the writer gets her story across is such an intriguing way, I felt compelled to keep reading and was totally lost in the story.
I am really impressed with this story, I am looking forward to the next book, I highly recommend this book it is a fabulous piece of writing which will caress you in the emotional solar plexus, great story
Wow. I really don't know what else to say about this book. It was pretty original from anything else I've read and I loved the idea of the story. Christina is a great character and her emotions and responses are so genuine it really pulls you into the story. I liked that it was told from 2 points of view and in a therapy session setting. This book had a lot of heartache and violence but I loved every second of it and found the ending to be an absolute perfect way to end the book. I can't wait to see how Christina's journey continues from here.
Absolutely amazing book! This book does have some dark themes, however it is done in such a way that it adds to, rather than detracts from, the story. The darker parts are absolutely essential to the story/plot/character development as well. I love the MC in this book, and the unique way that the story is told (no spoilers!) was brilliant. Cece is amazing at character and world building, and this story is absolutely no exception. Love, love, love!! If you're thinking of reading this book, definitely pick it up and give it a go. It's great.
First I want to say that this book does have some triggers in it so please check before you read if you have some triggers, don’t want anyone getting triggered. But in saying that I loved this book. It has so many feels in it. It’s a very emotional book, I connected with how raw it is and wanted Christina to get her Vengeance. I want to see what happens next in this book, it’s a really good read. Written differently to other books I have read lately. There is not much romance in this book but it didn’t need it. I want book two as soon as I can.
Wow! This story drew me in. Christina is a great heroine. I liked that we get to really see and experience the conflicting emotions she has as she deals with her death, and new “life.” There are definite triggers so check the warnings. I am not usually a fan of jumping back and forth between present and past, but it worked for me in this story. It allowed some lighter moments as we got to see some of Christina’s snarky side. There isn’t any romance in this book, but the story isn’t over yet :) I’m looking forward to book 2 next year.
I loved this book! It's not your typical romance in the fact that there isn't really any in the first book but I loved that Cece set up the storyline and background before jumping right into romance! At first the back and forth POV threw me but I think it added yet another dynamic to the book with letting us know what was going through both of their minds. I will warn you to get your tissues ready because I bawled through a lot of the story but it was written with such depth and emotion I could literally feel it jumping out at me! I am counting down the days until book #2 comes out!!!
Wow! Not what I was expecting but in such a good way! CeCe does it again! A book about getting vengeance on people! Who wouldn’t love it?! Christina has deal with being dead, and she does it in her own way! She has to deal with Nemo, another Vengeance trying to get her to be like him. It’s a slow burn reverse harem book, first in the series so you will just have to wait on the steamy scenes but I have a very good feeling it will be worth the wait!!
Cece Rose wrote yet another amazing book and I am just reminded of how much I love her and how dynamic of an author she is. This book has two different POVS, making it super interesting. I feel like there is even more depth and passion in these characters than some of Cece's other work, which is really saying a lot because I love her other characters. Not really much romance in this book, but you can see where is going to come! Definitely worth reading!
This is not a fluffy read. This is the story of a girl who is brutally murdered and what she becomes after her death. She makes a lot of really tough choices in this book but I think in the end she comes through and stays true to herself. The MC doesn’t let others dictate to her about who she I supposed to be. The MC is vulnerable for very obvious reasons in this point but has an inner strength for what she believes in. This is a trigger heavy book.
I loved this story! Completely didn’t expect the outcome. The relationships between the characters was slightly confusing although I loved how they interact. I was heartbroken by some of the trials Christina goes through but loved that she was strong enough to still make good choices. Can’t wait for the second book to see where her journey takes her next!
It took me just a few chapters to get into this book, but once I did, I couldn't stand to walk away! I have truly never read anything like this book, and it was brilliantly written! Christina's story is tragic and as I read her tale my heart aches for her...it was a truly gripping read! Bittersweet ending left me wanting more! Highly recommend this book and cannot wait for part 2!
Vengeance is a new book by Rose and I mean new in more ways than one. This book is something I've never come across before. It's concept is new and innovative and I can't wait to see where she takes this story. The story line is tragic yet gripping as we follow our MC Christina in her transition from life to death in the most unfortunate of endings. I can't wait for book two!
I love when authors surprise me! Vengeance was a really great read! I’ve never read a story with so many flashbacks to the past before, my mind was trying to keep up with the changes truthfully. Character development and the story plot was spot on. The biggest hurdle I faced in reading this was only the flashbacks we had both past and present. I wasn’t always able to keep up with the story line and found myself having to take breaks to actually absorb what I was reading otherwise it would have seemed to all clash together.
A great read nonetheless! Four stars for both originality and story plot!
This book y'all.. It made me feel so many emotions. This book follows Christina as she learns what happens the night she dies and her feelings towards it. There is a nice little plot twist at the end that I spent most of the book hoping for. So ready for book 2 to find out if Nemo will ever stop loathing her and see if anything happens with Zed as she follows the path of Justice!

Ok guys! This book is amazing. It’s gritty and raw and so incredibly well written. The way Cece builds this book is truly amazing and mind blowing. CHristina is one of the strongest female leads I have seen this year. She stands by what she thinks is right and doesn’t give in to the temptations or expectations that surround her. Go read this book. I demand it.
