Arranged Marriage

Rate this book
SHE HAD LOVED HIM SINCE CHILDHOOD.
When Analisa Durant was informed by her dying father that he had promised her in marriage to Rafael Santiago--the son of his old friend, the Spanish Don Jose--she could not gainsay him. She remembered all too well the dashing young man she had hopelessly loved when she was a child of ten.

But now Analisa was a woman who had to ask herself if she could remain the wife of a man who recklessly denied her strongest feelings. Would he ever love her enough to listen to the heart that he so firmly claimed as his own?

Analisa's and Rafael's fathers promised the two in marriage before either of the two were even born. Neither is happy to be forced into an arranged marriage. After Analisa's father dies, Rafael visits her Vermont home to help her out and to bring her back to his family's home in Spain as his fiancée. If Analisa will agree to the pretense of being engaged until Rafael's father gets his strength back after suffering an illness, Rafael will then release her from their betrothal.

This was a really good story. I loved the setting of Spain and the wonderful cast of characters. Analisa and Rafael made a sweet couple. Analisa was a very likable and compassionate heroine. Hero Rafael was a dangerously sexy Spaniard. I loved Rafael's family who were so welcoming to Analisa. Maid Angela was such a sweet lady. Other woman Carmen was a lot of fun just by being bad. There's also a very exciting bullfight. The ending of the book was a bit weak with some unnecessary melodrama, but even so, everything else was so good that this still rates 5 stars for me.

H/h were promised to each other as kids but they never had any intention of honouring that vow. But when the heroine's father dies and the hero's father is sickly the hero comes to take her to Spain, intending to put on an act. The hero in this book was a massive toad & jerk and the heroine should have drowned him or just taken her house as her gift from him and never looked back. The hero acts hot and cold, parades around his former mistress in front of the heroine, who actually attempts to murder her (but of course our typical goody heroine say it is all coz she can't bear to lose you *gag* ). Of course the hero/heroine end up married but the squeamish heroine can't see the hero be a matador and needs to run all the way to America to grow strong for him. This one was so campy and ridiculous that I just couldn't stop reading.

Analisa has been promised to Rafael by her dying father. She had a crush on him when she was 10, but he turned her away as too young. When her father dies, Analisa agrees to pretend to be engaged to Rafael so his ailing father would have some joy in his life.

However, there are misunderstandings, an evil OW, and bullfights. Without any spoilers, I liked the ending!

Re-read 03/16/2019- Took it down to 3***. The h was mildly annoying and the H was a little creepy.

The romance story begins as : h loves the Hero but the Hero is not in love with the h and they just have to marry because their fathers had made a pact when the leads were younger. There is lots happening in this book like h s shift to a different country and a moc etc. However, I felt that the writing in terms of character interaction and chemistry lacks depth, reading it feels flat and wooden.

I can't believe it, another pedophile (referred to one of the previous books I reviewed)!
And another awful book.
