Come play an amazing guessing game that will show you how to see the world in a whole new way. Every person, animal, and thing around you is made up of many small parts. When you look at each piece separately, fascinating details come into sharp focus. Colors, shapes, and sizes will help you discover an object's true identity. Put the PARTS together like a puzzle and you can see the WHOLE object in a completely new light. This playful photo-essay takes you on an eye-dazzling journey of discovery.
When I was five, I refused to go to kindergarten. I declared it was for babies. I already knew how to read, but what really bothered me the most was that the kids mixed up the paintbrushes and colors at the easel so there was never true blue, red, yellow or green. Every time my teacher turned her back, I left the room and headed to the first grade class diagonally across the hall. Luckily, I had a friend there who happily shared her desk with me until the teacher noticed and sent me back to kindergarten. After many successful escapes, a trip to the principal and some testing, I was officially moved to that first grade class with beautiful autumn leaves painted on the door.
With bright and vivid photographs, this title shares hints of an item on one 2-page spread followed by a 2nd full page spread revealing a full view. Children will enjoy naming the parts individually and guessing what the larger object is for which they've been provided clues. Helpful to expand vocabulary and may serve well as a classroom activity.
I rated this book 2 stars because it wasn't so good. It would be better if they showed more of the bus and the tire on the bicycle. This book is better for pre-K kids. --Matthew
I rated this book 3 stars because it was easy to guess the objects. But I liked the part with the watermelon. --Daniel
A random grab (no preread) while going through the picture book section at the library this past weekend. Great photos, great concept. D&M would have liked it a lot more as toddlers or preschoolers. It's too easy for them now that they're know-it-all kindergartners, lol.
My 2.5 year old loved this book and actually did quite well recognizing the objects parts before seeing the entire image on the next page. Great book for teaching parts to whole.
Great concept book for kids! Used close-up pictures of parts of things like a dog, a school bus, a flower, etc. and then showed the picture in it's entirety.
