When promising college football star Thomas Bishop loses his eyesight to an accident on the field, he loses not only his dreams of one day playing in the NFL, but also his faith. With the help of Elizabeth, his tutor at the school for the blind he must attend, he must learn to deal with the greatest tragedy of his life or risk losing everything, because he would soon find out that blindness was only one tragedy among many more he would have to face.
Will Thomas continue to fall into the abyss of disappointment and despair or will he learn that with every fall, one has the opportunity to rise to heights they'd never dreamed of before? Sometimes, all it takes is Blind Faith.
Joseph Wozniak draws influence from all types of genres and authors. His favorites are: Nicholas Sparks and J.K. Rowling. He loves to read pretty much anything that will teach him new things and make himself ask questions, about himself and his world. He writes Inspirational novels with Christian themes and lessons with atouch of romance that eveyone can relate to, whether they are christian or not. He has a way of bringing the characters out and making them so real to the readers that you forget you are reading a book. He tries to make the reader ask themselves a tough question when they are done with the book. He accepts questions whenever he receives them and loves feedback from his readers.
Blurb: Thomas is one of the best high school football players in the country. He has dreams of playing in the NFL one day like his father. When tragedy strikes, and he loses his eyesight due to an accident on the football field, he not only loses the one thing he has to have to pursue his passion, but also his faith. With the help of a friend and tutor at the school for the blind he must attend, he learns how God can use troubles to bless us. But, when tragedy strikes again, and he is met with a decision that will not only affect his life, but the lives of everyone he knows, how will he respond?
I have worked with people with vision loss, volunteering quite extensively for many years. So I opened this book with that knowledge. I based my rating on the finished, published work at the time of reading.
The praise: The story is told with heart and emotion, about a teenage boy who is a popular football player in his school. Because of his excelling in sports and being popular. he carries with him a bit of attitude. Then his parents have marriage trouble, and his anger gets the better of him and a head injury results in blindness. His mother has a lot of faith, as do some of his teachers and friends, but he is bitter and is questioning his faith in God.
The criticism: (I hope to be kind in my criticism) There are many proofreading, grammar, punctuation and editing errors in the story which made it difficult for me to read fluidly. I was unable to finish it because the many errors made it difficult to finish. I wish I could have, because the story had a lot of promise as a Christian read.
The tactile form of reading is spelled Braille. It is named after the founder, Louis Braille. He wasn't learning brail, unless he's a sailor. The spell-check on this review even is underlining the word brail as I type this. Additionally, a person who is a sighted guide doesn't take the blind person's arm, he or she offers their arm and the blind person touches their elbow and together they walk.
I know this because when I first volunteered I did it that way and was soon given a re-orientation. I also gave my supervisors (as well as the client!) a good laugh in the process. They knew where my heart was, and so did the client, but I got a one day lesson in sighted guide and corrected the error of my ways.
Mr. Wozniak shows promise as an author and all of the above in my review affects the rating.
This is a good story with interesting characters. While I enjoyed the storyline with its messages of hope, faith in God, forgiveness, and beating the odds, there are technical issues which should be addressed by a professional editor. They occur throughout the story but seemed to become more prominent toward the end of the book.
The story is touching and illustrates the profound repercussions of our actions, especially those taken in anger. The author does a good job showing the beauty of God’s grace and the unpredictable ways people's lives are changed.
Oh. My. Goodness. Do yourself a favor, and read this book. I bought it on a whim, and by the 3rd page, I knew it was gonna be 1 that I couldn't put down. Without giving away too much, this book makes you feel every emotion you have. I cheered, I was angry, I laughed, I cried. It is a definite DON'T MISS.
I chose to read and review this book. I liked it a lot. I liked the plot of this one and how each character meets and interacts with the other. It was such a sweet one. It has a lot of things that may happen in real life to anyone. It is a very deep book to read. I mean it, be prepared to feel the emotions and feel more than you think. I am not a Christian but do enjoy reading them. I felt that faith in this one was amazing in the way it was written since some don't do it well. I recommend this one you will enjoy the struggles of real life and how faith helps out when you needed it yet haven't asked for it before.
Blind Faith; A Contemporary Christian Romance By Joseph Wozniak
this book is absolutely beautiful it is so moving and tear jerking just s beautiful book. I highly recommend it. I give this book 5 stars because it is an absolutely moving story.
While reading this story I was reminded that all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord. I wanted to award it 4 stars but was unable to because of the many editing discrepancies. It''s 3.25 stars. Thanks to the Author for effectively portraying God's loving heart in this novel.
This is story was about Thomas a determined football player that becomes obsessed to win and will stop at nothing to achieve his goals. He puts his football first, putting God last and losing his faith when something unexpected happens. This story tells you want can happen when you take God out of your life. Then he becomes blind due to his anger on the field and he has no hope at all, but that changes due to people praying for him and his tutor Elizabeth. I really liked the Christian love story and enjoyed how it unfolded, I liked the unexpected twist too. This had me smiling and teary eyed and sad, it really touched my heart and I would read this story again someday. Very well done. This story covers a lot like forgiveness and gives you hope. Highly recommend this to be read and hopefully you believe in God after reading this.
This is a heart breaking story that also touches the heart in a special way. Thomas is a football player, it's really all he cares about. Then, suddenly a few tragedies change Thomas' life forever. This story is about taking what life hands us and finding a way, with help from friends and faith to live with it. The author does a great job with this emotional tale,
One of the best reads I've had in a very long time! I loved this novel. Wozniak clearly has talent.
This really is a story about faith. When I started it I had some reservations. First, I'm not a sports fan and don't read novels focused on them. Second, although I'm a Christian, I've found a lot of Christian novels to be rather weak on story. Blind Faith gets right to the story up front and keeps the momentum.
The main character, Thomas plays football in high school and he's exactly what you remember from your own high school days: full of himself, certain of his strength, ability, and looks. Everything seems to be going his way until he is injured during a football game and loses his sight.
I won't give any more spoilers but let me just say, this story grabbed me and didn't let go until the end. Thomas and his family are forced to come to terms not only with his injury but their own problems. As he loses his faith he is forced to see on a different level exactly who he really is and how he is perceived by others. Be warned, this is an emotional story balanced with tragedy and hope that will have you reaching for the tissue.
Wozniak is a good storyteller. The story stayed focused and clear. It is emotional but this doesn't feel forced. It is a natural progression of the story. He writes well but there were a few errors in spelling and I suspect they may have been spell checker errors - homophones don't do well in spell checkers. They could have been missed by whoever proofread it and could be easily be corrected.
I'm giving this book five stars because simply because it is a really great story and well told. Good job! I look forward to reading something by this author again.
Its great, I had re-read it and I can't put it down Thomas goes through a couple situations which would knock your faith, which I can totally understand. And I love the fact that it shows something that can truly happen, but it also shows even if you go through a big situation which you can't seem to grasp why it's happening to you, there's always hope. I would defiantly suggest you get this and read it! Love it 😊
There wasn’t anything I didn’t dislike about this book. I did like that the chapters weren’t really long. I knew from the first chapter that this going to be a great read! The storyline was right on & it kept me interested with what was happening with Thomas. Highly recommended:)
I truly enjoyed this book. I was extremely disappointed in the casual use of God's name as in "on my __," . I would like to apply for the ob of proof reader as you certainly need one.
I’m not sure how to describe my feelings for this book, it was wonderful, it has a true message of faith and learning to trust God! Excellent writing with very believable characters, very emotional, I cried a lot!
Really enjoyed this heartwarming book and the meaning behind it! This is the first Indie book I've ever read and it did not disappoint. Will definitely keep an eye out for Wozniak's next book!
While reading “Blind Faith”, I was under the impression that Thomas did not follow directions well since he was a football athlete and dismissed the play given by his coach. His teammate defended him by stating it should not matter that he did not follow the play since his own play seemed to work. This input a thought: Do we follow orders or make our own plays? Sometimes our choices does not play out as planned, or how it was given to us. Overall, Thomas is clearly noted as a talented player and also a prideful, conceited person.
Thomas received hints to come back to Jesus Christ through friends and family. He refused to go to church, he denied faith was the answer to solving any problems but his mother advised that it helps and calms you down in the situation you are facing, and popularity comes at a cost. There was a rage and anger surfacing deep within where everyone around him could see it. He even shut down those whom seem to care. Thomas’ character demonstrates how many of us can get when we are faced against something difficult and do not want to face the challenge(s); also do not seek after the Creator for help or advice. Can we really do this alone?
What I took most from the read was that sometimes we take things for grant such as our five senses, then when we lose something we had taken for grant and now see its true value, we cannot imagine how life will go on. Is this where our faith will grow stronger or dwindle? Thomas saw that FAITH was not the factor and the least thing to help his current situation; instead focused on the mistake or how this incident actually happened when he could accept his current reality. I could only imagine how difficult this could be…and hope things turn out for his good.
Overall, the book was an easy read. This is recommended to YA (Young Adults) and those who enjoy sport fiction with an underlining message. As an avid reader, I would have liked less narration or narrative voice and show more than tell. As a writer, I struggle with this concept and finding balance of dialogue, action, plot, delivery, and character development without so much telling (narration). The writing was mediocre but there were life lessons that anyone could take from this read. There were quite a few typographical errors that they author may want to update.
Moreover, this is not my typical read; yet I did not start to enjoy until the middle to the end—even if some of the characters seemed unreal to me. I mainly liked the scripture readings spoken by the pastor and Thomas being transformed. This was quite enlightening.
This book appealed to all my greatest interests -- romance, faith, redemption. The story was well told and truly inspiring. Unfortunately, there was poor editing that took the focus off the story. I realize that the human brain is capable of reading and comprehending a message even with typos in it, but being capable and not being distracted by it are two different things! I would recommend this for young adult readers regardless of gender. The boys will appreciate the athletics and the girls will love the romance. If you're looking for something thought provoking to bury yourself in for days on end, this will not be your cup of tea.
