Simply Ephesians: A Crash Course in Understanding, Applying, and Discussing the Bible

Rate this book
More than a brief introduction. Less than a dense commentary. Overviews in the SIMPLY series give you all the handles and keys you need to understand the books of the Bible, apply their truths to real life, and discuss them informally or in study groups. Balanced, accessible, full of insight, and unencumbered by doctrinal agendas, every book in this series covers the background, themes, storylines, major concepts, and big-picture implications of the biblical text itself. It will equip you to read the Bible with much greater awareness of its context and appreciation for its truths. Ephesians lifts the curtain on spiritual realms and pulls the reader outside of time and space to see God’s overall purposes throughout the ages and his ultimate sovereignty over every created thing. For anyone trapped in a ground-level view of life, struggling with a sense of futility or fruitlessness, feeling the weight of oppression (spiritual or material), and stuck in old habits and patterns, Ephesians offers a cosmic perspective, promises of authority, fruitfulness, and victory, assurance of a spectacular position in God’s plan, and practical advice on living in a way that is consistent with the values of his kingdom. Taking the message to heart, the reader will feel empowered, emboldened, and equipped for everything he or she is called to do.

Great overview

Chris Tiegreen does a wonderful job of giving an overview of the book of Ephesians. The book is meant to stir thirst in the reader to learn more; if this overview is this good, how much more can be learned in a study of the book? As usual, Chris’s writing is excellent and clear. Well done.

Well done

A brief, yet enlightening write-up on Ephesians. I really appreciated how easy this was to read and understand, and I left with a better understanding of the context than I began with. Thank you!
