In January 2016, at the age of just 30, Fi Munro was diagnosed with non-genetic stage four ovarian cancer. In that moment, after months of pain, tests and assurances that it was “nothing to worry about”, her instinct had proved right and her worst fears had been realised.
In the months that followed, understanding her diagnosis, recovery and health became her full time job. Using her expertise as a researcher she dedicated her time to understanding everything she could about her diagnosis and subsequent prognosis.
In this honest, open and often tear jerking account of her journey back to wholeness, Fi openly shares her story from diagnosis with stage four ‘terminal’ cancer to living an incredible, healthy life full of joy and laughter.
This book is a guide for anyone, not just those with cancer, who wants to embrace a happier, healthier and more caring approach to their life. May it bring you hope, peace and, above all, joy.
Just finished reading Fi’s amazing book and I am in tears. Not sad tears (thought there were some of those as I read the book), but joyful tears. happy, inspired tears! Her book is first of all astonishingly honest, authentic and soul-bearingly personal as she describes here experience of stage 4 ovarian cancer: from pre-diagnosis, through treatment and surgery and through to recovery. It is her determination to change her life and live a life full of health and joy and love and positivity which forms the latter part of the book and her experiences of managing herself, her environment and her diet which offers the rest of us so many great lessons. Having followed her blog and various FB postings, I was already aware of her inspirational approach. I am so glad I read this book and I will be using her lessons to inform how my husband and I deal with life Post Cancer.

Full disclosure, I've known Fi as a student, colleague and friend. I took Love, Light and Mermaid Tails on holiday, thinking I ought to read it, but frankly not really looking forward to hearing about the difficult journey she has been through. I read it in a day - totally life-affirming, uplifting -and unputdownable. It will change how you look at your own life.
I’d recommend any man or woman read this book. Don’t wait until you’re sick, read it before you ever become ill. If you’re already ill, I’d still highly recommend reading this book. Your illness need not be cancer.
Most of us think we are living - but are we really?
I have been following Fi's blog for over a year and have enjoyed it so much. I was looking forward to her Book coming out and have to say I was not disappointed. A great read not only for caner warriors and their friends and family but an inspiration to us all to live life to the full. To go out there and do all the things you always wanted to do and kept putting off!!!!!
Fi Munro is a remarkably honest and vibrant woman who has embraced her journey with cancer. Such an easy to read book which leaves you feeling as though you've just been chatting to the author. Thank you for sharing your story. X
An amazing book. Fi Munro is truly an inspiration after everything she’s been through. Living with stage 4 ovarian cancer the things she’s achieved since being diagnosed and while going through various operations and treatments is quite admirable and overwhelming.
