Assimilé au néant précédant la création du monde, le noir a hérité d’une réputation souvent péjorative. Pourtant, à la Renaissance italienne, quand les princes adoptent des étoffes noires précieuses, le noir flamboie. Très tôt, la couleur tente le dessin puis l’estampe. Certains peintres sont fascinés par les multiples facettes du noir : Vélasquez, Rembrandt, Goya, Manet, Malevitch, Matisse, Michaux et, bien sûr, Soulages... En littérature, au début du XIXe siècle, les Romantiques, après avoir honoré le vert et le bleu, se tournent vers le noir : le désespoir croît, la nuit et l’obscur sont ses refuges. Après avoir longtemps signifié le deuil, aujourd’hui le noir passe pour être la plus élégante des couleurs : de Coco Chanel à Christian Dior, la mode vénère le noir… Voyage au pays du noir en compagnie de Barbey d’Aurevilly, Balzac, Marcel Proust, Victor Hugo, Goethe, Milton, Musset, Nerval, Baudelaire, Rimbaud, Michel Tournier, Yves Bonnefoy, Michel Pastoureau, Pascal Quignard et bien d’autres

This book is a short collection of poems and extracts from plays and novels regarding the color black.

Black is the color of nothingness, of chaos, of death, of sadness, but it's also the color of sexual desire, of rebirth, and it makes other colors vibrant.

Famous writers and artists have immortalized the color, its many meanings and their feelings towards it through their writings and artworks, such as William Shakespeare , Victor Hugo , Charles Beaudelaire , Wassily Kandinsky, Fransisco Goya and others.

But my feelings towards this collection can be summed up easily through this line: This is yet another collection of stories and poems that gave me no joy and I will probably forget all about in a few weeks time. No offence to the people who enjoyed it, but it's not my cup of tea.

Εκπληκτικη καταγραφή και ανθολογηση σχετικα με το μαυρο χρωμα και οχι μονο! ΥΓ Must have must read!

Τι ωραία ανθολόγηση αυτή της Fabienne Alice και τι ενδιαφέρον που έχει μεταφραστεί στα ελληνικά μονάχα ως τώρα. Με ενθουσίασε το πρώτο κεφάλαιο του προσδιορισμού του μαύρου, επίσης από τα τελευταία κείμενα αυτό του Μισώ και του Σουλάζ. Χάρηκα ιδιαιτέρως όταν είδα πως το μαύρο (όντως) ποίημα του Γκαίτε "Ο Βασιλιάς των Ξωτικών", που κάποτε είχα ακούσει αλλά που δεν θυμόμουν καθόλου ποιανού ήταν κλπ, συμπεριλαμβανόταν στο βιβλίο και το θυμήθηκα.

Εδώ στα αγγλικά ένα απόσπασμα:
"My father, my father, and dost thou not hear
The words that the Erl-King now breathes in mine ear?"
"Be calm, dearest child, 'tis thy fancy deceives;
'Tis the sad wind that sighs through the withering leaves."

Μία εκτενής αποτύπωση της μοναδικότητας του μαύρου χρώματος μέσα από μια ανθολόγηση διαφόρων κειμένων που αν και είναι διαφορετικά με έναν περίεργο τρόπο αλληλοσυνδέονται μέσα από την κοινή συνισταμένη του μαύρου παρουσιάζοντας μια ροή που θα μπορούσε να διαβαστεί πολυπλεύρως.

Προτείνω μια ανάποδη ανάγνωση για όσους είναι και "ανάποδοι" χαρακτήρες

Ce livre m’a vraiment plu! Il y avait une sélection très intéressante de textes, de la philosophie grecque à Victor Hugo, à Kandinsky et à Goya. Les introductions au début de chaque texte étaient aussi très bien écrit. J’aurais aimé que chaque texte serait un peu plus long, pour donner une immersion plus profonde dans le thème, mais en tout, je recommanderais ce livre!
