Rate this book
A Hellfire Club novel (book 1)

1808, Blackfriars Abbey, England

The handsome 4th Marquis of Lorne has not been remembered kindly by history. Bored, privileged and selfish, he and his two friends, Darlington and Sutcliffe, founded a Hellfire Club, and unleased a demon into the mortal world. As punishment, they are put into a deep sleep by the Sorceress, the ruler of the between-worlds.

200 years later …

Lorne, awoken from his sleep by archaeologist Professor Maggie McNab, is now a changed man. With Maggie’s help, he must recapture the demon and make reparation for his past crimes. But the ‘wicked marquis’ is unlike anyone Maggie has ever encountered, and as she joins him in his quest, they discover an irresistible, blazing mutual attraction.

Can they survive what is to come with their love intact?

Reviews for Sara Mackenzie's Immortal Warriors series

"5 stars - PASSIONS OF THE GHOST is one of the most magical paranormals I have read this year. Ms. Mackenzie pens an alluring tale that drew this reader in from the very first page. I did not put this charming tale down until the last word was read. I laughed at the witty bantering and cried when two lovely people find a rare love that makes them complete. Amy is a lost soul looking to get away from the life she has led. Reynald is another lost soul trying to make his past mistakes right again. I adore both of these very unusual characters. Making the story even more complete are the secondary characters that are vibrant and sassy. Ms. Mackenzie pens a plot that is thick and spell-binding. If you are looking for a tale that will leave you wholly satisfied and all warm and fuzzy inside, then I highly recommend PASSIONS OF THE GHOST. I will be heading to the bookstore to gobble up all of Ms. Mackenzies books." RomanceJunkies 2006

"4 Stars - Mackenzie's immortal warriors are once again trying to rectify an old wrong. This new chapter adds even more mystical elements to the series as a notorious highwayman tried to change his family's tragic history. Mackenzie (aka author Sara Bennett) demonstates a rare gift for blending paranormal elements, including time travel, to create stories that are emotionally maultifaceted as well as action packed. This is one multitalented author!" Romantic Times 2006

"5 stars - The second in the Immortal Warriors series, Secrets of the Highwayman by newcomer paranormal author, Sara Mackenzie, is just as fast paced, and spellbinding as its predecessor, Return of the Highlander. You will be as swept away in the adventure of Nathaniel Raven and his pursuit of the monstrous Pengorren as the vibrant Melanie is! Very imaginative, Secrets of the Highwayman has so many intricate plot twists you won't be able to put it down! I can't wait for the next in the series, Passions of the Ghost, to hit the bookshelves!" - A Romance Review 2006

I love Sara MacKenzie! She writes some of the best paranormal/love stories. I would have given 5 stars if the story was longer. In this story....

The 4th Marquis of Lorne had owned Blackfriars Abbey and he had also founded the Hellfire Club. This was a place for young, bored aristocrats to get together. In 1808, the Marquis had released a demon, the Destroyer, from the Underworld. Then, Lorne had been put to sleep by the Sorceress. Now, present day, the Marquis has returned to life after being asleep for 200 years. . But, not only has the Marquis returned to life......so has the Destroyer!

Maggie McNab is an Archeologist. On one her digs, she uncovers what she thinks is a whole skeleton, which is very unusual. But, as she’s looking at it, it starts to add flesh, becomes a body and becomes alive. Very ugly, dark and frightening this is NOT something nice. It is not human.

As the demon started towards her and was clearly going to kill her, a streak flashes by her and WHAMS into the demon. Turns out the flash that went by is a man with long, silver hair, he’s handsome beyond words AND he’s totally naked!

The Hellfire Club is a trilogy spin off of the Immortal Warriors series. You don’t want to miss this book which is the first in the Hellfire Club Immortal Warriors series. The next book is: Darlington: An Immortal Warrior.

The book has everything you want....love, danger, excitement, fast action, etc. But, the story definitely has a cliffhanger ending. You could read it and be glad you did, but I know I want to read the next 2 books in the series.

I got this book free from the author( thank you). I am giving an honest review.

I do not read a lot of paranormal but this sounded interesting in the blurb. Wow, it really was to say the least! Starting in 1808 Briarcliff Abbey, England, the hero Lorne and his two friends who had formed The Hellfire Club, had finally captured the Creature... Lorne had let it escape but they could not send it back to where it came from due to the door being locked. Yes, ok you have to read to understand, but needless to say the Sorceress sent Lorne into the earth to stay buried until years later he would be found and slay the demon.
He was discovered in an archaelogical dig by Prof Maggie who was excavating at Briarcliff Abbey. The Creature was unleashed and so was Lorne.
To say the least this captures the imagination and you will not be able to put it down until the end!

Part of the Hellfire Club/ An Immortal Warriors Novel series a well written story with a very good storyline once I started reading I was not putting it down until I finished reading. Professor Maggie McNab woke Lorne from a magical sleep, he wants to make up for the evil he did,200 years ago. There is suspense, drama, danger, evil, an escaped demon that has to be captured, a villain, and romance. I want to read the next book. This is my 1st read and review for this author and wow what a story I enjoyed it immensely. The Year 1808 The Place Blackfriars Abby, England Lorne and his friends opened a Hellfire Club and in turn released a demon into the human world so for punishment the Sorceress puts Lorne into a deep sleep until hundreds of years later he was dug up in an archaeological dig by Maggie who teams up with him to put the demon back where it belongs. Wow what an amazing story I loved it and I highly recommend this book.

OMG! I Loved It!
“Lorne” is a wickedly dark and exciting tale. It is well written with exciting characters that take you to another realm of intrigue, desire and drama. It is the kind of story that draws you in and holds you suspended to the last page, where you can breathe again. I loved this story and anticipate reading another in this trilogy.

This is an exciting, dark paranormal story. Lorne unleashed a beast and he could not send it back to where it came from as the door was locked. He was sent to earth with the beast and buried there until the beast could be sent back. Years later they are unearthed and so is the intrigue and drama. This story had me reading to the last page. I can’t wait until the next book. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

4th Marquis of Lorne is brought out an induced 200 year old sleep by archaeologist Professor Maggie McNab and the adventure begins. A new series of the Hellfire club brings romance, suspense , and a demon to defeat.
Can't wait to read the second in the series .I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
