Around The Way Girls Series #6
Around the Way Girls 6
Following in the successful footsteps of its predecessors, Around the Way Girls 6 features three popular authors presenting their versions of the tough, street-smart girls that everyone loves.
Yana and Kiki had to grow up much too fast, thanks to their mother's drug habit. They've got each other's backs, but even that might not be enough to protect them from the ruthless drug dealer who's got them under his thumb.
Connie is tired of struggling to get by, so when a shady corrections officer introduces her to a sure thing, she jumps at the chance. It doesn't take long, though, for her to recognize that her new hustle is bringing more drama than she bargained for.
Quiana wants nothing more than to do the right thing. After bearing witness to her mother's heinous murder at the hands of her drug-addicted boyfriend, she is struggling with the ramifications of losing the only person in the world who truly loved her.

Pre-Reading- Before I read the book, I knew this was going to be a good book, based on the last book I read. Just by looking at the book cover, it seems like it's going to be about a young girl and her life. I believe this book will keep me attached to it.
During Reading-This book have really grabed a hold on me. I cant stop reading it for nothing in the world. There are so many different situations that goes on in this book. Although it's fiction, it feels very real to me. I really cant relate to the story, but I can feel where the characters are from. The theme of the story is to always keep your head up and dont let nothing keep you from getting what you need.
After Reading- This book really got to me. its tells me that all the different situations that goes on in the stories are true and it could be a every day thing. It made me think twice about how greatful I should be with my life and the things I have. This book had a really good ending to it. The character's life started off as them getting abuse an d negleted from their single mother's to them having a successful life and making something out their lives. This book has a series and every since I have the first book, I have being buying the other volumes.I would reccommend this book to teens who might go through the same problems in the stories. They might could learn how to be strong no matter what they might go through. Always keep your head up and believe that you are somebody and that you could be something in life, maybe the next billionaire.

This is, in my opinion, the best Around The Way Girls yet. Meisha Camm's and Mark Anthony's stories were far better than Rahsaan Ali's but Ali's can still be said to be okay. Anthony's has a part 2 coming out and I have to admit, as much as I don't like sequels anymore, I am interested in what's going to happen. He definitely could have left it alone with the ending he used in this book but I can see how he can keep it going too. I'll be interested to see whether the story will be in an Around The Way Girls 7 or a seperate book.
Ali's story was a little too unrealistic for me- I want to imagine things happening when I read fiction and it was hard with this one. There were also a few unanswered questions and one or two thing that just plain old didn't make sense. But the basis of the story was fine and it was still okay if you can get past the complaints I just mentioned.
Anyone who read and liked any of the the Around The Way Girls should definitely read this one!

I read a lot of urban literature & I've never encountered stories as dreadful as the 3 I read in Around the Way Girls 6. Do yourselves a favor and skip this Around the Way Girls compilation.

These have really fallen off. Not sure if I will continue. The stories were unrealistic, unbelievable, and uninteresting.
