As they begin to fall in love again, Lucas wonders--could he give her a family after all? Can he put his past behind him? Perhaps an unexpected pregnancy could be the Christmas miracle to make Freya's dreams come true...
I love Christmas stories at this time of the year and this one is fabulous the setting is just amazing with some of it set in the land of Christmas Lapland, this one brings to the reader all of the feels for a true romance a story of second chance love but not before they cross a few hurdles I loved getting to know paediatrician Lucas Brodie and nurse Freya and the past they had to get over for their true HEA.
Freya was a woman who loved Christmas it had been such a big part of her life and the first Christmas with her gorgeous husband Lucas was sure to be awesome, but sadly that is not so when he walks out on her, devastated Freya gets on with her life and the following Christmas she volunteers to take sick children on the trip of a lifetime to Lapland but is stunned when Lucas arrives for the trip as well, could this trip change her life?
Luca had so many demons in his life that the thought of having a family was too much for him he feared being like his father and could do nothing but walk out on the love of his life Freya he was not good enough for her. Nearly a year later and he is much better and ready to start his life again and this trip to Lapland maybe just the starting point especially seeing that Freya is on the trip.
I loved seeing Freya and Lucas meet again and rekindle that love that had never left either of them but the issues that needed to be overcome would be with caring and more love and having a family that would unite them forever. This one is beautifully written it was a joy to read MS Baine brings her characters to life on the pages and had me sighing and smiling thank you for a fabulous story this one ticks the boxes for a true romance that I highly recommend.
I am not a Christian but I love reading stories that revolve around the Christmas season and this was one such story.
I have read quite a lot about Christmas but never experiences the festivities myself and therefore the fun and loving portrayed in the book was very emotional for me. I wanted to be out there on the snow with the rest of them.
The story could be used as a classic example of what miscommunication brings and how a simple conversation can bring lives back on track.
The best part about the book, however, was the fact that both of them were ready to put the other before themselves. They wanted the other to have a happy and full life, whatever may be the consequences for themselves and that is real love. A love that is selfless.
A tender and warm-hearted tale that will have readers reaching for their tissues, Their Mistletoe Baby is a wonderfully poignant Medical Romance by Karin Baine.
Christmas is nurse Freya’s favourite time of year. Growing up, her parents used to leave no stone unturned to ensure that she had the best possible Christmas and now that she’s all grown up, she wants to recreate the magic of the season for herself and her husband, Lucas. For Freya it is second nature to decorate every available surface with tinsel and baubles and to have Christmas carols blasting in December, however, Lucas does not share her enthusiasm. Indeed her husband is haunted by tragic memories of the past that are impacting on his future with Freya and causing him heartache and anguish. Realizing that he couldn’t possibly take his wife down with him into the abyss of despair he has found himself trapped in, Lucas realises that he has got no other choice but to leave the woman he loves behind and walks out on his marriage at Christmas, leaving Freya desolate and inconsolable with grief, wondering what on earth she had done that had compelled her husband to leave her.
Her favourite time of year has become one full of heart-breaking memories she would rather forget. With Christmas just around the corner again, Freya wants to put the past behind her and focus on the future. When a trip to accompany sick kids to Lapland comes around, Freya gleefully accepts the chance to put some of the magic of the season back into her life. However, she is absolutely flabbergasted when she realises that the medic who will be accompanying them to Lapland is none other than her ex-husband, Lucas! With the memories of last Christmas still fresh in her mind, Freya is determined to give Lucas a wide berth and to keep things strictly professional between them. But that soon proves to be easier said than done.
Thrust into close proximity together, old feelings quickly resurface, however, Freya makes no secret of the fact that she would love nothing more than to have a baby of her own – and being a parent is the last thing Lucas wants! Are Freya and Lucas going to let this second chance at happiness slip through their fingers? Or is their love simply not meant to be?
Their Mistletoe Baby is a wonderful read readers will fall head over heels in love with! Emotionally satisfying, wonderfully romantic and absolutely impossible to put down, Their Mistletoe Baby is a spellbinding tale of forgiveness, redemption and healing that will bring a tear to even the most jaded of eyes. Karin Baine has created two wonderful characters who leap off the pages and who are wonderfully rendered whom readers will cheer on to get the happy ending they so richly deserve.
A terrific contemporary romance that delivers on all counts, Their Mistletoe Baby is another winner by Karin Baine!
Who says you can’t go home again? In this fast-paced story of love and loss, we learn that you can! With a lot of hard work, Lucas has pulled himself together and is trying to make amends for the heartache he left behind last year, but will Freya be able to make peace with the fact that he abandoned her? The plot could have definitely been built out more, but the characters were strong with an interesting underlying story.
Pediatrician Lucas Brodie walked out on his wife and her hopes of a family last Christmas. Now it’s almost Christmas time again, and word around the hospital is that he’s back, but she hasn’t seen him yet. Her luck is about to change, because he just stepped onto the plane taking the kids from the hospital to see Santa!
Freya Darrow is still reeling from having her life implode not so long ago, and she doesn’t relish being stuck with her ex on this trip. She has no clue what made him just up and walk away … but she doesn’t think she can ever forgive him. When Lucas makes an effort to talk to her and his story eventually comes out, she realizes there was a sad past that her husband never got around to telling her about, and things came to a head at a terrible time last year. Can she actually find it in her heart to forgive him? … and will a surprise baby be just what it takes to make them open their eyes to the future they could share?
Coming from a big family Christmas is Freya's favorite time of the year. Looking forward to spending her first Christmas with her husband Lucas she is devastated when he leaves her just before. Hoping this Christmas will give her back the spirit she has lost over the devastation of her broken marriage last year and not wanting to face another Christmas feeling as she does she decides to go on a trip to take a group of children to see Santa. Just what she needs to get her in the spirit except she finds out Lucas is going also. Lucas has a past that makes him feel as he does about the holiday but he also as a doctor feels he must help by traveling with the group of children to see Santa. What happens when the past becomes the present and these two are together not by choice. Can there be a future with Freya if Lucas can only accept the past and realize that his love for Freya can make a different future? Can he get past his pain and give her the family she longs for? A book just wonderful for this time of the year.
Wonderful second chance story with the theme of Christmas woven into it.
I think a second chance story is well done when you can feel the devastation of the heroine because for those of us who have been through it you kind of never forget how it feels; then when the hero is brought back into the picture and you warm to the character you can't help but hope the two can work it out and the journey they face together is portrayed in a way that you're thinking "you can do it".
That's how I felt reading Their Mistletoe Baby. If second-chance isnt quite your cup of tea, please do try this story, it's really well done plus how could anyone not want to pick up this story with the gorgeous cover.
"Their Mistletoe Baby" by Karin Baine was a great, quick read. Freya Darrow is a Nurse and she loves everything about Christmas. Her husband Pediatrician Lucas Brodie never really had any great memories growing up especially Christmas. The story starts off with Lucas leaving Freya right before Christmas. Fast forward to 1 year later and they are brought together again when they accompany some sick children on a trip to visit Santa on a dream Christmas trip. There is so much as to why Lucas left in the first place. Definitely, a good read for the holidays.
The holiday spirit is alive in Their Mistletoe Baby by Karin Baine. The sweet, candid story with two amazing and well-crafted main characters, also with a plot that is engaging, emotional and realistically portrayed brings warmth to your heart. I devoured the book in a matter of hours and felt at a loss when I turned the last page. Fast-paced, well-written and satisfying, Their Mistletoe Baby is a must-read!
Lucas Brodie walked out on his wife, Freya at Christmas. She wanted a baby, someone to pass down traditions to and to celebrate the holidays. Lucas wanted none of it and just walked out.
Freya threw herself into work and when a trip to Lapland came up she decides to go for it. Little does she know that Lucas is also going to be on that trip. Children that are sick are on this trip and so medical personnel are needed.
Lucas has many issues in his life and he is totally afraid of being like his dad. So he did not want to think of having his own family ever. When Freya and Lucas met again they did start to wonder about the issues that tore them apart. He always felt he was not good enough for her.
Love Christmas books and this one did not disappoint me at all. You will see them fall in love again and see if they can get back on track.
Freya Brodie thought her marriage to Lucas was as solid as can be until he left her during Christmastime with hardly any explanation. Now though, a year later, Freya is forced to work with the handsome man she’s still unfortunately married to, but doesn’t know whether she’ll ever be able to forgive. Will Lucas ever let Freya in, so she can finally know the truth of why he left; or will he break Freya’s heart all over again? Read More
This is a reunion romance with a lot of pain in the pasts of our hero and heroine, Lucas and Freya.
Lucas walked out at Christmas in the very early days of their marriage leaving Freya heartbroken. But now he’s back and they are in the awkward position of being teamed up to escort sick children on a trip to Lapland as medical staff.
It would be nice to think that Lapland one year later might help solve their problems but they’ve a way to go before they put the past behind them. There’s just one little extra person who’s about to put a spanner in the works as well...
This is no simple, fun Christmas read but it does come to a satisfying seasonal conclusion once the abusive past has been brought out into the open and the hero and heroine heal.
