Prince Torin has travelled to the frozen kingdom of Klemenite to negotiate an alliance against the Erifs. More importantly to secure the use of the ice cannons. But the Klemenite King wants a favour in return.
The head of the Shewolf.
The King wants Torin to kill the Shewolf, leader of the mysterious Wolf Clan. Legend says they are bloodthirsty killers, beasts of the forest. All who enter their domain are never heard from again.
So along with his friends, Torin ventures straight into the heart of the forest, determined to lay this myth to rest one way or another.

I am head over heel in love with The Fire Song Chronicles series, with its character, with the author's writing style. If Rise of Erifs was good, the second book Secrets in the Ice is even better.
In the second book Torin and his team goes to Klemenite kingdom which was like Antarctica of our Earth or even colder. There, Torin was trying to secure a treaty with the king of Klemenite and in doing so, they were embroiled in one danger after another.
True to its title there were some big secrets lurking in the corner. What is it? The author smartly drops hint here and there only to further cultivate the curiosity. And I would be lying if I say that I was expecting it. I was completely outsmart by the author’s secretive writing and her knack to keep the secret tightly wrapped up. I just loved the way the entire story unfolds with unexpected turns of event.
Torin and his friends diplomatic visit to Klemenite was full of adventure rather dangerous. Though Klemenite warriors doesn’t appear to be ferocious as Erif warriors, due to their burning power, but circumstances were inviting trouble.
The story is fast paced and well plotted with many vivid battle scenes and encounters. In fact some were so lucid that I read them with bated breath waiting for the final outcome of the fight.
Indeed an exciting and superb series in the making. Looking forward to read next book in series which will take the gang to Timedelle.
This is the second book of The Fire Song Chronicles by Atlanta Bushnell . The first book was Rise of the Erifs
In the second installment , Torin travels to the Klemenite Kingdom to secure a “treaty” with the King unaware of the danger that lies ahead. Justifying the title , there are some secrets hidden in the ice (klemenite here is referred as ice as it is assumed to be cold ) .
The author has worked well with the writing style in this one to my astonishment. The battles scenes are described amazingly and you get a clear picture in your head. The writing , in this one grips you to quickly turn pages and read , because you can’t keep the book down.
However , I felt the story was a little exaggerated and could have been shortened. Let’s see what the third book beholds.
First of all, I am a very avid reader of fantasy novels and these books are just one of a kind! I enjoyed reading it from the begining to the end. They kept me turning the pages. The story is well paced and one thing after the other happens everytime. It never bored me in the slightest. With minimal description yet informative, it was really fun reading it. I loved the plot and the twist and turn of the events. The books surprised me every now and then. The author has made a good work in the storyline and the way they were conveyed. It is packed with action and adventure which is what I enjoyed the most.
The characters of the books are the ones that I loved the most. They are really energetic and lovely. Among them I loved Aurora the best. She is just awesome. The twins Aurora and Alex are from Earth, another kingdom among the six. Each character of the book has a story of their own and that helped me in knowing them better. The circle of Torin's friends are really wonderfull for their comradery and faith in eachother. I wish I was part of them too! The language of the book is very simple, and at times I felt that they mustn't be this simple! These books contain the elements of everything- family, love, friendship, romance, adventure, action- you name it.
The one thing that I was disappointed in this book was the writing style. As I said the story is of fast pace. I dont know why, but when I am reading the book I never get the emotions of the characters. The author failed to convey the emotions of people in the book to the readers. And also everyone seems to move on really fast if something happened. The narration of the story keeps switching between each character which was okay.
I was skeptical after reading the first book because I was a bit disappointed in the story but the second one was really great. I loved the Secrets in the Ice so much that I finished it in just two days and I felt bad when it ended. Aside from the style of writing, everything was perfect. If it wasnt for it, I would've given 5 stars for the books.
So if you havn't read the books already go pick them up. They are real fantasy novels that you were waiting for. The author has done a great job writing them. Atlanta Busnell is hosting an international giveaway for the books on Goodreads or the books are available at Amazon. Go check them out.
Last year, the lovely Atlanta Bushnell contacted me to ask if I could review her book Secrets in the Ice! I was so happy to be able to do so as I loved the first book which she kindly sent me a couple years ago. I have reviewed the first book, Rise of the Erifs, which you can find here.
Secrets in the Ice is the second book in The Fire Song Chronicles, the first being Rise of the Erifs! In the first book we meet Prince Torin and Prince Jaydar the two of the main characters who are from Latainia, and their planet has been taken over and ruled by Erifs, who are now in this book seeking an alliance from Klemenite to help come together and defeat the Erifs who have taken over their home.
However, King Orral of Klemenite, has given Prince Torin and his friends an impossible task to gain the treaty, he wants the head of the shewolf. The leader of a mysterious wolf clan that is rumoured to be bloodthirsty and ruthless killers. The supposedly beast of the forest, anyone who enters their territory are never heard or seen again. Torin and his friends are determined to find the myth of the beast and gain the alliance that is needed to defeat the Erifs!
This book was so good that I can barely put it into words, I adored it and I want more! I got sucked back into this world and enjoying the ride alongside the characters, it’s been a fun read. In the first book, we were based on Latainia, Earth and Keppar and in this book we are on Kleminate trying to fight back against the Erifs and in the third book we’re going to Timedelle and I can’t wait to jump back into the series when it comes out!
I absolutely loved this instalment into this series, it was filled with so much action and adventure, it was brilliant, fast paced and filled with new characters and seeing development with older characters, I love Atlanta’s writing style and I can’t wait for the third book in the series to see where it takes them! I’m sad that the story is over for now, so the third book is extremely anticipated for me.
If you enjoy sci-fi and fantasy books, I defiantly recommend this series for sure! I believe that this is a YA series but I think Middle Grade readers would also enjoy this!
We jump straight back into the action and exploration of worlds in the Sequel to Rise of the Erifs. With the formation of the gang in the previous novel, Secrets in the Ice allows for the characters to show their strengths and weakness as a team while they try to hunt down the shewolf within the harsh world of Klemenite.
This book delivers scene after scene of action used to carry the story along. More secrets, as the title suggests, are discovered leading to unexpected reveals.
Family bonds are continued to be explored and history is uncovered as the gang uncover the truth about what is hiding in the heart of the forest.
Secrets in the Ice ups the action and the plot from Rise of the Erifs, but I struggled with the large amount of dialogue used.
I was also a little bit disappointed with how quickly the lose ends were tied up at the end of the novel in a few chapters, after the build up regarding the possible beast in the forest, the resolution seemed rushed.
That being said I loved the balance of seriousness and humour in the book and the way that all the characters have a different skill to bring to the table. I particularly love seeing the differences in the twins, how while Alex is more of a brains figure this doesn't stop him from being able to fight as well.
Overall I was quite happy with this book and excited to see where the story goes in the next book! 3.8 Stars
I just love this series so damn much. The writing style is yet again simple but it didn't affect the story. The plot was incredibly woven and again the world building is awesome.
There was of course a development in characterization but not that much as it was in the first book. Though if asked, I would say Torin advanced the most. The story is fast paced and I think that's a plus point for it. It leaves you in wonder on every single page and yet it moves fast enough to catch up.
I would say you should read this series if you're a fan of fast paced fantasy read.
This story is so amazing! The charters only get better! I saw a lot of Character growth and the storyline was exciting I never want to put the book down
This series ought to be made as a film or a TV series. I am stunned by the author’s talent of knitting the story with engaging plots. I feel a strong bonding with the story now.
Torin with the help of resistance sets up a camp in Latainia. Latainia is now in the hands of Laykin the crown prince of Keppar. To fight the fire monsters, Torin needs the ice cannons. But that machine belongs to the Kingdom Klemenite. Torin along with Jaydar, Kalani, Daye,Bowa, Aurora and Alex travels to Klemenite. Klemenite offers to help Torin but on one condition that they have to capture a beast which is killing the village people. King Orral believes that the beast is SheWolf the leader of Wolf clan. Torin accepts the offer and travels with his team to encounter the beast. Will they acquire the cannons? Will it be a easy path for Torin? Well, you to have to dive into ” Secrets In The Ice” now.
Author is on top gear and there is no way in stopping. The characterization gets better and better in each and every page. There are more secrets involved in this book. With the new characters I am pretty much sure that the next installment will be even more adventurous.
There is tint of romance here and there. But there is much of respect and love towards the sibling bond , patriotism and trust towards the people.
At the end of each combat and fight ,some secrets unwraps. The way author kept the pace of the story throughout the 458 pages, is noteworthy. To be honest I am at loss of words to explain my excitement. There are many secrets which should be kept as a secret from you all. The plots and the twists are the main pillar which enfolds the entire book. So readers, read the book and you won’t regret it.
It's been a year since I read the first book of the Fire Song Chronicles. I admit, I loved the book and it made me love the series the most. Now, @atlantabushnellbooks trusted me to review the second book : Secrets in the Ice. Im so thankful and finally, I will get to know what happens next.
Set in the time after the ending of Book 1, the second installment of ghe series didn't let me down. This is one of the books that broke the second-book-is-boring-in-series kind of thing.
First book gave me the ability to cry about each character, this book gave me the emotions more than the first book and I felt the stronger conection with each characters. It is easy to imagine the scenes in this book and you can feel that you are really a part of that world.
In this book, Torin and his friends went to Klemenite to make a treaty for the alliance against the Erifs. For that treaty, they must have the head of the Shewolf, which is a myth to the kingdom. They get to discover something more, met new friends, had some cool action scenes and amazing PLOT TWISTS that will make you stop and think for awhile.
Reading this book is not a waste of time. This is the best 455 pages of my life and I enjoyed the book so much. It makes me wonder why Ms. Bushnell is not famous yet because her series is amazing.
The ending gave me a cliffhanger, indicating what world they are going next. I can't wait for Book 3 to know more about the hidden secrets and unanswered questions in this series. I would gladly review it for sure.
So dear friends, don't hesitate to grab a copy of the series. This is worth the read.
