It was very nice to succumb into the misterious world of the Witch Hunter once more. What in the beginning looks like an intriguing detective story turns out to be a thrilling and atmospheric tale, full of unexpected.
I particulary enjoyed the atmosphere of the book, dark, gothic and the construction of the characters.
I can t wait for the audio version!

I absolutely enjoyed reading this book! I liked how it went from being an adventure and mystery to being a dark thriller. There were so many twists and plot turns that the entirety of the book kept me on edge until I finished it. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this book. If you're looking for something dark, gothic, gloomy, then this book is perfect for you. The characters are very well written, and the pace of the book is great, too. Absolutely recommend it.

Great short read!

Since it's a standalone story, even readers who aren't into the series would enjoy it. For a short read, the twists and turns can really capture you. It's a thrilling adventure: man gets entangled in a kidnapping case, hunts down mysterious creature that's causing chaos, and so much more.

I definitely recommend it to readers who want a quick thrilling read.

This was a short standalone read which reminds me somehow of Tales of the Peculiar. It's our witch hunter, Ludlov's adventures way before Sevenpeaks. The book is easy to read. The plot is organized and the chapters highlight the battles Ludlov had to fight to protect the child. The book has its own charm without being as dark as the Witch Hunter.

4 stars. I was sent a copy by booktasters.

This book managed to scratch the itch I had in novels. An epic fantasy set in a well thought out world, with witchhunters and a dastardly twisted plot.

Gorgeous prose by the author and the pacing is quite sufficient. Not too long like most epic tales liked to be and not too complicated either.

This is a book I think everyone should read as it's an easy and short read.

I loved this book, because it started out as an adventure for Ludlov to bring back a missing child. It then became a thriller with battles as Ludlov and the Captain soon found themselves trapped in a mysterious place called the dark woods. Where upon that had to fight dark shadows in a castle of a count who had made a deal with a dark demon to stay alive. The battle was fierce as they fought to keep the child safe. I therefore gave this book a five star rating and review. I urge everyone to read it and enjoy.

After reading Witch Hunter, I was more than happy to get the opportunity to read more of Ludlov's adventures! While this is not a sequel to the Witch Hunter, as it is more a standalone story set before the events of Sevenpeaks, I still very much enjoyed this new adventure. I liked the aura of mystery that we are placed into at first, but then it was so thrilling to see that morph into a dark tale filled with so many unexpected twists and turns. It definitely kept me on the edge of my seat and I just wanted to keep reading more and more to find out how Ludlov was going to get through everything. Any time I am given the opportunity to be in Ludlov's world, I am happy to learn more and more about him and his adventures no matter where they take us. Dear readers, you will not be disappointed with this story, so I highly encourage anyone who is a fan of fantasy and dark tales to read this gem!

This is a story about demons, werewolves, and witch hunters. In my humble opinion, there's a limit to how good a story containing these elements could be. It's also in my humble opinion that this book meets that standard. This story engaged this skeptical reader, kept him engaged, and made him ready for more.

Alfred, a farmer, and his son Kaspar meet their end at the mercy of a werewolf. Ludlov, a witch hunter, is engaged to track things down. Ludlov ventures to the town of Schnertwald, meets Nikki, wife of dead Kaspar, and warns her to protect son Frederick. When animals kidnap Frederick anyway,
Ludlov and Nikki's father Elsenbach pursue him. Ludlov proceeds to the Western Wilds, fights enlisted monsters, discovers the mystery of Edelhart castle, confronts a female demon, is protected by a mysterious amulet, and temporarily rids the area of a plague. Not a bad tale.

Many thanks to the author and BookTasters for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A shot, atmospheric gothic type tale full of intriguing characters, and many twists and turns that also makes it a mystery story. The book is a standalone story which means that even if you have not read any of the other Witch Hunter stories. The pacing of the book is great and so you move through the story in one sitting. The cast of characters include demons, witch hunters and werewolves; all of whom are well written and developed. Highly recommended for readers of short stories, mystery, horror and fantasy.

Another great addition to this marvelous character!

Another foray into the exciting world of the greatest Witch hunter in Sevenpeaks (and a worthy companion to Solomon Kane, Mathias Thulman and Van Helsing) had me cheering, teary eyed and inspired in equal amounts. Cannot recommend enough!

This is a prequel to Witch Hunter, which is part of a fantasy trilogy.

This was short and sweet, less than 100 pages, and I thought the author brought the story to life beautifully. The writing had a fairy tale quality that I liked, and I was pleased to read about Ludlov again too, as I remembered him from the previous sequel.

I listened to this back in January and forgot to put it here. From what I can remember, I thought this was a well executed idea. I like the detailed descriptions and the ambiance it created. My only problem is the pace of the story, and how towards the end the story was all over the place. But other than that, this is a decent story worth reading to support small authors.
