A Shoulder to Cry on...

Rate this book
Fernando, I was utterly certain, was, one hundred per cent, as straight as an arrow… and I was, one hundred per cent, as gay as a rainbow...He was never going to fall in love with me. It was utterly hopeless... but I was a hopeless romantic and so I hoped...
Jaime is profoundly deaf following a serious infection when he was younger. It's never held him back and he's at university and holding down a job in a swanky gay nightclub. Fernando is his childhood best friend who has just found out his girlfriend is cheating on him behind his back. Understandably upset, he goes to offload on his best friend.
He gets to his place of work to find him dancing with two guys and the feeling of jealousy that goes through him is a bit of a shock. They've only ever been friends. He's always had girlfriends and Jaime's usually been single...
Only he isn't single anymore - and Fernando doesn't know what to do with that unwelcome news.
This is a standalone novella and is part of the Studs & Steel series. It has no cliff hangers and is a happy ever after...

Jaime and Fernando have been friends since they were ten years old and have always had an incredibly close bond.
Jaime has known since he was really young that he was gay and Fernando has always been totally comfortable with that. Life is pretty perfect for the two of them - or at least it would be if Jaime was girl for Fernando - or if Fernando was gay for Jaime...
Things start to fall apart a little between them when Jaime goes off to university and really starts to embrace his sexuality away from the small town they live in.
Fernando starts to feel that he's been left behind; he's horribly jealous of Jaime's new boyfriend and feels that nothing in his life is making him happy anymore.
To make matters worse, Sasha, Fernando's girlfriend has noticed that he cares more about Jaime than he does her. When she points out the obvious - that Fernando actually has a better relationship with Jaime - the only thing missing is the romance - he has to really evaluate what his feelings for his best friend are...

While not familiar with the series (or the author), this novella is a delightful romp. CMs on the threshold of adulthood, best friends-to-lovers and gay awakening tropes, the story is full of feel goods. Ordinary guys, albeit one with a handicap, in an English setting, fun read to recommend.
