Moving the human population out of the Terran biosphere and onto a network of space colonies had seemed like a good idea at the time. However, as those who refused to leave the planet die, one by one, in ways both natural and foul, many of the colonists experience second thoughts, find themselves plagued with half-realized doubts, especially about what it means to be both human and cut off from the Earth, humanity's ancestral nursery. A journalist's questions, no matter how naïve they are, don't help, either. Indeed, they serve only to stir up one man's longing for home.
