Of course, these books are written for a very young audience, but I still enjoy them. The dialogue felt very stiff and much too light and staged, which bothered me, but then I've noticed much that problem in many of Morris' books. Still, this was an enjoyable adventure in which Dixie explores the Middle East. While it is very basic, it does get the basic idea across that they are in a completely different world, mentioning everything from climate, language, clothing, food, livestock, and expectations of women. It is definitely a good children's book, if not my favorite series by Gilbert Morris.
