Incarceration of Tears: A Journey of Transformation and Redemption
INCARCERATION OF TEARS is an array of personal essays and poetry, an exploration of the self, writtenby Terrel Carter, a man currently on his twenty-fifth year of a Death By Incarceration prison sentence. A deeply personal account, Mr. Carter allows you to see through the eyes of the condemned. Walk with him as he explores issues of race, spirituality, relationships, transformation and redemption.Mr. Carter uses his words to shatter the perception that all he is and all he will ever be is the personification of his worst act. Incarceration Of Tears provides the context of a human tragedy, as well as providing the means for the author to express his humanity and free himself from the prison of condemnation.

Terrell Carter is an inmate in a maximum-security prison, who at the age of 23 was sentenced to life imprisonment. More than 23 years later he wrote this collection of poems and short stories about his experience before and after imprisonment. At the same time literal and metaphorical, this collection clearly captures the complex of reasons one ends up in prison, and what that experience is like. I have had the opportunity to meet and talk with the author and like this collection, he is deeply reflective and intelligent man who has experienced the full range of human emotions. If nothing else, this collections obliterates the societal stereotypes of the incarcerated, and shows the tyrue human experience of those we have locked away.
