Cosmic Chickens by Ned Delaney is a story about a farmer under distress and about to lose his farm. He has to come up with a certain amount of money and has no way to raise it. That is, until the cosmic chickens show up to help him out. Zirk, Quirk, and Irk come up with cunning ways to help the farmer raise the money within 6 hours of his deadline. Throughout the journey the farmer seems to be doubtful but is happy with the way everything works out in the end.

This book, published in 1988, has a very interested demeanor about it. By looking at the illustrations, which cover most of each page, you can see that the farmer is never quite convinced by the cosmic chickens. The color of the illustrations progress from darker earth tones to brighter earth tones as the story becomes more and more positive. The emotion of each character is made very evident in the illustrations throughout the story. Like, the farm animals always seem to have the same emotion as the farmer whereas the cosmic chickens are always looking positive and optimistic.

Cosmic Chickens by Ned Delaney was very fun to read it is the story of a man who needs to raise money to pay off his farm. A couple of "Cosmic Chickens" show up to help the farmer raise the money. They come up with games for the townspeople to participate in like "My chicken will guess your weight". I loved that the chickens were little helpers sent around the galaxy to help people in need. It was a fun read and I would recommend it.
