Gwennie Elders doesn't regret for a moment the debt she took on to extend her grandmother's life, but when running into trouble with repayments she had to resort to drastic actions to save her family's business and apartment. It would only be a year of her life and she'd be unconscious throughout--to awaken debt-free and able to resume her life as a baker on the city's ground level, hemmed in by the towers where the wealthy and privileged lived. But there are no easy and options, and although she emerges from her servitude debt-free, her family's business and her means of support fleeted away while she was asleep, forcing her to seek a means to support herself in the coming war.
I've only been writing original stories for a few years, but I don't think I could live without writing now. I love historicals and the challenging structures of different times.
I live and work in New Zealand. Love travelling and wished I had more opportunity to do it.
I've got a bit of a backlog of stories and am currently writing a new contemporary series.
I loved it. From the powerful cover and the intriguing blurb to the way the story unfolds. A war-time love story set in a futuristic world but with a kind of WWI feel.
The world created seemed so real, I felt pulled right in there with the characters as I watched them struggle in such extreme circumstances. And go through some really emotional events.
I had high expectations for this one... And it fully delivered. Yes, there were some grammatical issues, but I just don't care.
