About the author

Istoric român, membru al Academiei Române și profesor la Universitatea din București. Este fiul lui Constantin Giurescu și tatăl istoricului Dinu C. Giurescu.
În 1931 a fondat Revista istorică română. Alături de Gheorghe Brătianu și Petre P. Panaitescu a fost un reprezentant important al curentului „Școala nouă de istorie”, care s-a remarcat prin opoziția făcută generației anterioare, reprezentată în special de Nicolae Iorga.
