They’d kill for a lie. But for the truth, they’ll die.

Detective Shannon Rourke is chasing the deadliest criminal she’s ever known: her brother. Michael Rourke is a hit man exiled from Chicago’s Irish Mob, and he’s just violated the agreement keeping him alive.

Although it feels like a betrayal, Shannon knows that arresting Michael is the only chance she has to save him.

But before Shannon can track him down, she catches a case for a triple murder in an abandoned rail yard on the Chicago River. Her only cooperative witness is a homeless guy named Hairy Harry who's a little ... unreliable.

While Shannon combs though the massacre at the homeless camp, the Irish Mob is sweeping every back alley and dive bar in the Windy City. They’re closing in on the brother who always protected her. She’s saved Michael from his demons before, but this time is different. This time, they’re coming after Shannon, too.

Couldn't get into this story

Shouldn't writers review for this .Diagnosed with lung cancer, husband had a heart attack and open heart surgery, started chemo and radiation. Now under the comfort care. Reading under these conditions is very hard. Hope next one again isn't going to take a two months. But really this book wasn't for me.

There are so many grammatical errors in this book. It makes it hard to read even though the plot line and the series are actually very good. The only advice I would give is that this author should invest in a very good, very renowned editor to review this book and fix the things that are wrong with it. I feel it could gain more popularity with just a few tweaks.

Chicago Betrayed: Book 3

I enjoyed Chicago Betrayed very much. Could not put it down. I recommend this book to everyone. It had plenty of action with very colorful characters. I can hardly wait for book 4. The Detective Shannon Rourke series of books so far are great.

I'm not sure what happened to the story and plotline here. While in essence a good read, and a decent follow-up to the first two books in the series, it loses something in being choppy reading with some unnecessary jumping about in locations and plot. Has a great ending though.

Very good detective series

This is the third book I've read and I am thoroughly hooked on the Shannon Rourke detective series. All the books are well written and hold your interest throughout. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Holy Moly!

This series started out great, and just keeps getting more tangled and intense. As long as Shannon Rourke keeps investigating crimes, I’ll keep reading!

Absolutely engaging, plenty of plot twists and interesting characters. Yes I admit I started reading this series because I live just outside of Chicago, but it really is very interesting and the references to places and things are factual. Catch up with Shannon and Michael and see what there up to in this adventure.

A somewhat descriptions of mobs

Alongside crooked cops that never really got intriguing, throw in a convoluted romance and repeated reference to an unborn baby did not make it interesting
