Red Room by Ebenbild is a Harry Potter time travel fix-it fanfiction. At the time of this review, it is a work-in-progress which was last updated on the 14th of June, 2023.
Despite being incomplete, this is one of my favourite fanfics. I love insane Harry, and this Harry is insane in the best way, most entertaining way. And his friends are all just as damaged. It’s brilliant.
One of my favourite scenes is in chapter fifteen, when we are seeing the time travellers through the eyes Florean Fortescue. It’s sweet. It’s adorable. It’s hilarious. And it’s just so effing squee! I love it!
Look, this story won’t be for everyone. The four who travelled back are suffering grief and PTSD in the worst way. None of them could be considered sane by any stretch of the imagination, and the lot of them are adorable but dark as fuck. I definitely advise paying attention to the content warnings.
But the writing is good, the exposition is done well, the characters are engaging, and the story is fun. So, if you’re into dark humour, and don’t mind reading incomplete stories, I recommend giving this one a try.
