A bunch of lackluster stories with poor coloring and art. All of Sal Velluto's characters look lumpy and sallow, almost like they are starting to melt. The coloring is garish with Gypsy often having salmon pink skintones.

I love a team book that's just a hodgepodge of heroes and the writers have to figure it out. I think every one of the original seven have led the Justice League at this point. This time it's Martian Manhunter's turn! The members turn over every story-line here with memorable turns by Nightwing, Elongated Man, Gypsy, and some of those annoying NEW BLOOD people. The BEST story here is when John Jonz becomes Joan Jonz on an all female mission to an all female alien commune. For some reason a shape-shifting martian has a problem being a woman. It's all so laughably bad, especially her costume. But the tables do turn before the end of this story, which I don't want to give away... Let's just say there is NO WAY it would make it pass the censors today.

This was... quite an odd book. A Justice League task force controlled by a grumpy government official... and sometimes being manipulated by him.... It was... odd. There were many heroes in his collection I'd never encountered before, and who evidently didn't have much staying power. (Namely Gypsy, who was a regular part of this... odd team.) I enjoyed getting some more time with Martian Manhunter (one of my favorite characters who isn't in nearly enough comics!), but... I've got to be honest, there was a lot more Martian cross-dressing (cross-shape-shifting?) than I was prepared for. And also more neo-Nazis. The story's weren't bad, they just... well... I've definitely read stories that handled concepts of gender and prejudice better. I feel like this series had trouble finding its tone. It wanted to be serious... but it didn't know how to be serious without coming across as contrived. It wasn't quite contrived, but it wasn't quite... able to be a thought-provoking mirror of society either. The end result was just (word of the day)... odd.

This was my very first time reading a comic book… and I mean I did enjoy it. There was multiple occasions where I had no idea what order to read it in. Also there was two characters who looked very similar… or they were the same person, I have no idea to be honest. I only had this first issue so I’m left on a cliffhanger. I really liked the dynamic of the characters together, I love how you can tell their personalities just from a little blurb. Can’t wait to read more!

Some good. Some bad. The last 3 chapters were pretty good. Not bad but not great either. The art was ok to good here and there.
