The Parker Sisters has been a fantastic series and Go Your Own Way is one of my favorites. The stories in the series could probably stand alone but I think you will enjoy them much more if you read them in order.
About the narration: This is my third audiobook performed by Mary Jane Conlon; I really love her voice. She doesn't just read the story, she performs it. Her different voices are great and the inflections she gives to the text are right on point. I tend to be hard on female narrators as I usually find their voices just not as pleasing to my ear as a male voice. Mary Jane Conlon is one of the three or four exceptions for me so far.
About the story: Scarlett has done a lot of things to alienate her sisters and give her parents cause to worry about her (you learn about these in the earlier books). In Go Your Own Way she finally realizes the mistakes she's made and we learn more about what her motivations were and how remorseful she is.
She's determined to finally get her driver's license after failing the test more than a couple of times. Her new instructor, Emmett, turns out to be a really hot professional race car driver who purchased the driving school as an investment at a bargain price. The office of the driving school is a mess and Emmett hires Scarlett to bring order to things.
Go Your Own Way is a story with a lot of depth to it. Scarlett needs to repair the damage done to her relationship with her family. Emmett has some personal things happening that cause a rift in their budding relationship. These are just a couple of the things that kept this story interesting.
One of my favorite things about this series is that the books are quick reads/listens; just perfect for an evening's entertainment. Ms. Eckhart does a great job with this length of book and I look forward to reading or listening to more of her work.
A free copy of this audiobook was provided to me by the author but my review is voluntary and not influenced by the author.
The audiobook of this last story about the Parker sisters, gives us the story of Scarlett Parker. Though living at home , she’s been estranged from her family after an incident with her younger sister, Morgan. Scarlett lacks confidence and feels she’s like the square peg in a round hole when it comes to her family. Trying to find herself and in the process of unsuccessfully passing a driver’s license test, she meets race car driver and the owner of the driving school, Emmett. During the book we see Scarlett’s confidence grow and finding herself. But life once again throws her a curveball. Will she overcome the new obstacles? Will she stand up for herself? Will she finally find someone who loves her for who she is? This was another entertaining story by this author.
Scarlett Parker has created some rough times for herself, mostly due to her underlying lack of self-confidence. When Emmett Bloodstone enters the picture, he helps her build her confidence, and what starts as a simple driving lesson becomes so much more. That is until circumstances from Emmett’s past create a backlash that send Scarlett running.
This romance carries a touch of heartache, that leads to a bit of drama, which surprisingly has Scarlett making some very grown-up decisions. This is an engaging romance that actually will tug at your heartstrings and have you rooting for her HEA. But nothing’s easy when it comes to Scarlett, so it’s going to be a bumpy ride, but it’ll be so worth it in the end.
I could not wait to read Scarlett's story. I wanted to understand more about why she did what she di to her sister and just her her general behaviour. Fear, low self esteem and a feeling the your whole family is against will definitely affect ones behaviour. Scarlett's story is just as Thought-provoking and the Characters are authentic with distinct personalities, their actions and reactions are realistic and you can feel their emotions through the entire story. I was sorry to see the end!! 😢 An epilogue would have been welcome with Scarlett's and Emmett together. I'm greedy aren't I! LOL I want more of Scarlett's and Emmett.
This is Scarlett's story. She is feeling very alone and unwanted within her family. Mason hates her and she feels that everyone is against her. She decides to take driving lessons after failing her test numerous times. This time it is Emmett who is her instructor. She has never seen him before but he is seriously hot stuff. He notices how fearful she is behind the wheel and wheedles out of her just how unloved she feels. What a great story and I loved it.
The Parker Sisters are quite a handful. This was Scarlett's story and it was somewhat bittersweet. She still hasn't made up with Mason and still feels like an outsider with her family. Her determination to gain her freedom was inspiring though. She starts driving lessons again and all sorts of things start to change for her. Very sweet story and am hoping there's another one to wrap up all of the sister's stories. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
A strong woman, determined and self righteous on the outside but quaking with fear and uncertainty on the inside. Being surrounded by a family that seems to think the worst of her, has undermined what confidence should have naturally developed. Now she can't even manage to get her driver's license! She's 18, a high school graduate and can't even drive. You'll be stuck to this book from start to finish. A great vacation, weekend, or anytime read. Highly recommended!
Go Your Own Way (The Parker Sisters #5) was a great read by Lorhainne Eckhart. Scarlett Parker has big plans for her life but doesn't include living the same life as her sisters. She also ants nothing to do with her father's ranch. One day she meets a man who is everything she is not. A man that belongs to no one and he winds up turning the tables on Scarlett. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.
Mason is quite a force to be with. She knows shes strong but yet her family undermines her confidence. Along comes Emmett who builds her up and she proves she can succeed.
I loved scarlet’s story. I was heartbroken for her because she felt Ike she didn’t belong in her family but then along came Emmett and her helped her feel good about herself. This series was great. I enjoyed reading each sister’s story to finding love and I really wish there was more books in the series. I definitely need more of scarlet and Emmett. I feel as though their story has not been finished yet and there was other things happening that I need to know what has happened in the future. Another excellent read from Lorraine Eckhart.
