From his early childhood, G.A. Minton has always been a diehard fan of science fiction and horror. Whenever a scary movie was playing down at the local theater, he was there in attendance with his friends, loudly screaming in terror alongside them. G.A. enjoys many hobbies, but the game of golf is one of his favorites, having lettered on his high school golf team. Besides writing, he also enjoys reading, traveling, fishing, swimming, snorkeling, working out, listening to hard rock music, and watching great movies—especially those genres that encompass horror, science fiction, mystery, and comedy.
Strangely enough, it was only after G.A. was rear-ended by a drunk driver and suffered a closed-head injury that he developed a newfound passion for writing (even though this story has the makings for a bizarre Stephen King horror novel, it is nonetheless true). After numerous visits to a neurologist and months of taking medication used by patients afflicted with Alzheimer’s Disease, his injured brain slowly began to mend itself. When the damage to his brain finally healed, G.A. noticed something very different in his thought patterns. Now, there was an overwhelming urge, a compulsive drive to put on paper fascinating stories that had formed de novo in his mind. That’s how Trisomy XXI, his first novel and recipient of multiple awards, was born. One could surmise that the damaged neurons in G.A.’s frontal cortex had rearranged themselves into a different pattern, thereby enhancing the creative elements in his brain (a rare medical condition, known as “acquired savant syndrome”). God only knows. . . stranger things have happened! G.A. is now referred to as “the savant horror writer” by many of his friends.
G.A. has recently completed his second novel, Antitheus, a dark supernatural tale of horror that takes Good vs. Evil to a whole new level. Currently, his brain is busy at work, meticulously processing the text for another story of the macabre that will both entertain and horrify its unsuspecting reader. One of G.A.’s trademarks is that his stories contain an O. Henry or Rod Serling surprise ending that would baffle even the likes of the great Sherlock Holmes! G.A. lives in Texas with his wife, a son and daughter, and two Bengal cats named Phinneas and Shamus.

Antitheus is a dark horror fantasy novel situated in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. An evil incarnate attacks the minister in an inn while a group of clergymen is on retreat. As they begin to figure out what is going on, they realize that they have no other way but to fight back in order to survive.

The story is filled with a thriller, horror, suspense and an overwhelming amount of violence. It is the perfect recipe for someone that enjoys this particular genre. I found the literature to complement the several plot lines that were built into the story. There was a particular detailed descriptive writing, complementing the storyline which made it be an excellent choice for a thrilling story.

I particularly enjoyed the cover of the book. The story reminded me of some of these games that are out there like “Diablo” or demons that are after nothing but destruction. It was very exciting to read and an enjoyable experience to encounter. I believe the author has a special touch in creating dark stories and is one to look out for.

It is definitely a good versus evil kind of story, and the ending does not disappoint. I trust fantasy readers would find this book to be very suitable.

Antitheus is a captivating story about a group of clergymen by the name of The Shepherds of God, a religious coterie that plans to hold a conference at the Goldmine Lodge, an inn located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Unexpectedly, the members are murdered one by one by a vile, seemingly invincible entity. When the thread of serial murders quickly escalates into a war between good versus evil, the protagonists become desperate to beat the clock and free themselves before they meet their untimely demise. As the situation rapidly deteriorates, the number of survivors decreases. It is not until then that they realize the culprit is no regular mortal. Because, behind the inexplicable killings, there may be an unknown force pulling the strings and orchestrating everything—an evil force that is determined to eliminate humanity.

Antitheus is rich in suspense, and has more than its fair share of bizarre events to spice up the plot. Author G.A. Minton definitely lived up to his title of an award-winning author. He knows exactly when to insert a shocking plot twist, and when to add a hint of lighthearted humor to this irresistible story, making it impossible to not finish the book in one sitting. The murder scenes mesmerized me with terror, but there were more than a few hilarious sentences in other parts of the book that tickled my funny bone. The most memorable part of Antitheus is its prose. Minton’s descriptive writing is flawless. His perfectly constructed sentences brought me to the gruesome scenes of crime, the blustery, bone-chilling blizzards, and the spooky old gold mine. Every word seemed to scream “major-motion-picture” at me. I felt as if I were watching a movie on paper as I flipped through the pages, savoring and visualizing every scene as the impeccable sentences of description encountered my eyes.

Apart from the deliciously terrifying plot, I enjoyed the ending very much. The climax of the story, its final chapter, had me on the edge of my seat. Without giving too much away, I can only say that it won’t disappoint readers. The thought-provoking ending encourages readers to discuss and debate where the fine line between good and evil lies.

Darkly enthralling and highly attention-gripping, Antitheus is not just a book with an attractive cover. The eerie foreshadowing and spine-tingling murders will haunt your mind and invade your thoughts, which proves just how successful G.A. Minton is at concocting stories of the macabre. If you are looking for a dark, scary read that delves into the topic of good versus evil, I highly recommend Antitheus. It is a spooky tale that will send shivers of thrills down your spine late in the night.

One glance at the dark, ominous figure overshadowing the globe on the cover of “Antitheus” by G.A. Minton, and I knew I was in for a wild ride. Once I picked it up it was hard to put down, and I devoured this chilling horror story in no time!

A nasty blizzard set to hit the Sierra Nevada Mountains does not bode well for a group of clergymen attending a religious conference at The Goldmine Lodge. When the lodge owner discovers one of the holy leaders has been brutally mutilated, it soon becomes clear to the group that they are dealing with an unknown, inhuman entity. The religious leaders are being targeted one by one, each grisly death accompanied by a warning taken completely out of context from the Bible. In this ultimate battle of Good versus Evil, the remaining survivors must work together to overthrow a seemingly indestructible foe—before the entire earth is overcome by unrelenting malevolent evil.

First off, let me just say there is a lot of action packed in this relatively short read of just over 230 pages. Minton wastes no time getting down to the shockingly horrific details. The tone and pace of the entire story is set in the first few pages with the discovery of the gory remains of the first victim, Preacher Stan Loomis.

I’m always in awe of how horror authors come up with some of their shocking material because my mind just doesn’t work that way, and Minton doesn’t disappoint with his incredibly creative imagination. Using spirituality and religion as a fear tactic just seems to increase the tension for me, as I inevitably conjure up the hellfire and damnation sermons from my youth. Talk about scary stuff!

I highly recommend “Antitheus” by G.A. Minton to all fans of the epic battle of Good versus Evil. It is very well written with believable authentic characters that will have you praying for their safety. Clear your schedule and be prepared to read this story in one or two sittings. The execution, pace and petrifying terror will keep you fixed to your seat!
