What a remarkable man Aspinall was. This biography is sympathetic without covering up his less laudable (if not downright deplorable) side. It does seek to explain his enormous sympathy for wild animals. It is well-written in a thoroughly accessible style. Recommended, especially for anyone interested in the future of threatened species, or in larger-than-life characters.
