Annie lived for her sisters in the club, but she was closest to Coates. They had founded the riding club together, and the women looked after each other. Always. In the search for even greater stability for their sisters, things had gone sideways and Annie had to scramble to find her center when Coates was brutally murdered.
Enter Domino, one of the few men who knew enough about her recent errand to warrant suspicion in her sister’s death, but there’s something about him. Something different. So different, that even in this moment of grief, Annie knows it is rare and worth exploring.

*Learn more about the Rebel Wayfarers in the books currently available in the series, and be sure to put upcoming titles on your "need to have" list! Please note this book is part of the Rebel Wayfarers MC book series, featuring characters from additional books in the series. If the books are read out of order, you’ll twig to spoilers for the other books, so going back to read the skipped titles won’t have the same angsty reveals. I strongly recommend you read them in order. Available Mica (book #1), Slate (book #2), Bear (book #3), Jase (book #4), Gunny (book #5), Mason (book #6), Hoss (book #7), Duck (book #8), Watcher (book #9), and Bones (book #10). Raised in the south, Wall Street Journal & USA TODAY bestselling author MariaLisa deMora learned about the magic of books at an early age. Every summer, she would spend hours in the local library, devouring books of every genre. Self-described as a book-a-holic, she says "I've always loved to read, but then I discovered writing, and found I adored that, too. For reading...if nothing else is available, I've been known to read the back of the cereal box."
A member of Romance Writers of America, deMora has penned a variety of stories, with five established series that include motorcycle romance, veteran repatriation, and time travel, as well as a romantic standalone, dark suspense, and a legal thriller. Her website is filled with links and information, as well as extras like character interviews, playlists, poetry, and trailer videos!
Her short bio reads, "Plate-spinner / cat herder at work; totally geeked author; single mom in the thick of autism at home; hockey freak; wanna-be hiker; usta-be/on-again EQ gamer."
Such a brilliant short. MariaLisa deMora pulled out all of the stops with the graphic and emotive detail on this one. The short is so well executed, containing an impressive level of substance for a novella. A truly satisfying read.
Marialisa has continued the Rebel Wayfarers with a short story for a new character, Domino, and Annie. An unusual situation to have a female MC, but one that I would be interested in seeing more of. The depth of characters is quickly established, intense and visual. Another great read from MariaLisa.
A short, fast paced story introducing Kathleen "Annie" who seems to be in her own all female RC, who after having a meeting with Slate, returns to base to finds things not at all how she left them. Enter "Domino" a RWMC brother, who ends up taking care of Annie in more ways than one.
This was a nice quick read, introducing new characters while still having the familiar characters we know and love in the background.
It was a great short read that had a great story line and characters. It didn't leave you feeling like you didn't get the whole story or that it was rushed. Rated very good
Was this novella only about Annie and Domino getting together? If so, then it was super hot.
Only reason I'm asking is because while I know this is only a novella, so I knew it would be short, you also introduced Coates murder and the disappearance of a few Rebels, but that's it. We get a mention of Tony Manzino, but is he responsible for the death and disappearances or is someone else? I would like to see the Gypsy Queens get revenge on the person who so viciously killed their girl.
I can't remember if any of these issues come up in other books, there are so many, but this is the first I read of Annie and her club, would be nice to see more of them as I couldn't really tell what kind of biker Annie was as the only representation of her was of grief, didn't really see the tough girl.
Her and Domino seem like a good fit but I would have liked to see more of them...hopefully we can get a peek into their relationship in future books!
Story kicks off with a brutal murder which isn't resolved. Instead the story dissolves into a life reaffirming sex between Annie and Dominic. I'm mixed about this series. I received this as a prize at Shameless about 3 years ago, almost 4. I thought it would be more female kick ass since Annie is running an all girls MC. It's not that way. More about tragedies and a possible mystery of a homicide to solve. It is well written which is the only reason why I didn't drop it to 2 stars. This author didn't appeal to me and I probably won't continue with her books.
This is probably the first book by this author that has left me feeling like I missed something. Don't get me wrong, the writing was just as good as always, I'm just lost as to where it comes in to the series. And I felt a little let down with the way it ended. Maybe as I read farther into the series I'll get it.
This story was a good choice for the anthology. I've always wondered about Deke's brother, so introducing him now as a member of the Rebel Wayfarers and no longer a detective was a perfect segue.
