I liked the "The Rise of Fire: Book Two in the Shattered Time Series". Book Two seemed like it should have been part of Book One, not a standalone book in the series. I felt like it was just starting to gain its footing, and then it abruptly ended. They are both really short reads anyway, it would be better if they were combined into one book. If you take the phrase “Peanut Butter and Jelly”, Book Two felt like the *and* between the Peanut Butter (Book One) and the Jelly (Book three), not a separate ingredient (like say… bananas).
I enjoyed it, but I felt like it would have been better to reread "The Sound of the Stones: Book One in the Shattered Time Series", before reading book two. I had forgotten many of the details about the characters, in the time between the two books. The characters were also more thoroughly developed in Book One. I was hoping to go deeper and learn more about each character in Book Two. I would have liked to have seen a few reminders of things about them from Book One and new details about each character in Book Two.
I am really hoping that "The Broken Bind: Book Three in the Shattered Time Series" will not only be much longer, but be a fully developed standalone book as well.
